A bicyclist died in a crash. Did he hit a tree? No, he was hit by someone driving a car. I wouldn’t call that a crash. Also, I don’t care that he wasn’t wearing a helmet. Bicycle helmets are not designed to protect you against impact with a car.

Yet again, the Government is failing to treat the climate emergency with any sense of urgency at all. Climate-wrecking airport growth mainly helps people spend money abroad, when we could invest in green transport, connecting people to brilliant domestic destinations like, er, Brighton instead.

Edinburgh is the city that on one hand officially advises visitors to "consider walking or cycling wherever possible" during the Fringe and on the other does naff all about its useless, painted, advisory, uphill cycle lanes in the centre with Military Tattoo-branded Range Rovers parked on them

The media focuses on reporting traffic conditions rather than reporting on the problems of having forced car dependency and the societal costs that are associated with that policy choice.
This used to be an old worn out strip mall with a massive surface parking lot. It is now being developed into spaces for people, commercial and residential space, all alongside active infrastructure. *See post 2 for what it used to look like. 🧵
If cities want to encourage people to walk, they need to provide plenty benches to have a wee seat. This one is in the garden outside Corstorphine library , where I walked along to pick up this brand new book which they reserved for me. You gotta love libraries.😍
We need to start legally holding auto manufacturers accountable for the death and destruction their product designs lead to on our streets.

Imagine building something that gets so congested you might need to divert bus routes, but has zero provision for active travel to take the load off 🙃
