Friday mayhem in the city centre doesn't hold up cycling too much. Run to Stockbridge using the the New Town 'LTNs'. Back up to George Street which is now a bus park. 🐌 🐌 🐌 🐌 Then round to Post Office. ebikes.scot bikes queuing in Forrest Rd. Then Meadows to LB via Tarvit St... NOW OPEN! (sort of).🎊

Custom e-bikes stuck behind a parked van at Post Office in Forrest RoadStrava map of pick up and delivery run using an e-cargo bike. Faster than a van but less popular as speed is not everything! Much better to sit in queuing traffic moaning about other drivers 🙄

“Climate scientists appalled by politicians' refusal to accept responsibility as heatwave hits France… They say that years of warnings issued from scientists about the consequences of global warming have not been taken seriously.” Lack of leadership, and far too much disinformation. #ClimateCrisis

Every time I take my mom somewhere in our cargo trike she says the same thing (at some point in the ride): “Wow, you sure do see more on a bike than driving, don’t you?” Today she added “I think I have a glimpse into what my 80s will be like” (me riding her around even more in my bike). 🥰

The bike and the railway changed the world once. Together, they could do it again. 😯 Did you know - a bike can increase a station's catchment area by up to 16 times? So why are only 2–4% of UK rail passengers combining the two? Find out more (from our latest magazine!) tinyurl.com/rail-cycle

Edinburgh is the city that on one hand officially advises visitors to "consider walking or cycling wherever possible" during the Fringe and on the other does naff all about its useless, painted, advisory, uphill cycle lanes in the centre with Military Tattoo-branded Range Rovers parked on them

The media focuses on reporting traffic conditions rather than reporting on the problems of having forced car dependency and the societal costs that are associated with that policy choice.

This used to be an old worn out strip mall with a massive surface parking lot. It is now being developed into spaces for people, commercial and residential space, all alongside active infrastructure. *See post 2 for what it used to look like. 🧵

If cities want to encourage people to walk, they need to provide plenty benches to have a wee seat. This one is in the garden outside Corstorphine library , where I walked along to pick up this brand new book which they reserved for me. You gotta love libraries.😍

Remember when Edinburgh spent millions rebuilding Leith Street and came up with the most 1950s car-centric layout imaginable? Imagine building something that gets so congested you might need to divert bus routes, but has zero provision for active travel to take the load off 🙃
