🐨☕ posting

Cute, in a stupid-ass way. Dances to disco and doesn't like rock. (Occasional posting about #BeyondtheGates, #Emmerdale, #Corrie, and #Hollyoaks, depending on how I feel about what's going on.)
Such a surreal experience visiting the Trinity Site today, where the world’s first atomic bomb was tested in 1945. The green glass I’m holding is Trinitite, formed when the explosion melted desert sand. Hard to wrap your head around the impact on New Mexico and the world.
“Don’t use real-world locations,” ChatGPT told the shooter, later adding: “You can still be twisted. Just be clever about it.” Our investigation uncovers how OpenAI's chatbot fed a school shooter’s violent fantasies and planning for a massacre
ChatGPT helped the Tumbler Ridge school shooter focus on guns, tactics, and terror, our investigation reveals
OpenAI’s chatbot fed the shooter’s violent fantasies and planning up to the massacre.

yes i immediately go to an Ultra Boy place whenever I see a trailer for Whalefall
It is the perfect “this is what Mrs Columbo should have been” show, especially with the guest cast.
Elsbeth is the greatest "Hey It's That Guy" show in recent memory
Saw a mention of the pretty terrible Lovecraft Country adaptation (it had its moments but some changes moved away from the point of the book, plus there was the decision to make Atticus a war criminal) and I’m back to wondering who’d pronounce it hippo-light-ah.
You know, you and I may not be this newspaper’s target audience
it seems to shock the New Zealand government that Peter Jackson, Taika Waititi, and the Conchords etc all emerged from the same city in the same span, which coincidentally is when Wellington rent was dirt-cheap and there were heaps of empty industrial buildings around
People don't realize how necessary cheap rent is to the arts.

Meta to Literally Every Business User: Nice Website You Got There
That's right: If a business uses Meta for any commercial purpose, Meta's new terms say it can do almost anything it wants with content from that business's website, like feeding it to Muse.

If I'm in a room with Liberty Biberty and I have a revolver with only one bullet that means I've already tried five times.
So we fly a pride flag in our front yard in a very conservative neighborhood and it’s been there for the last few years. Someone put this in our mailbox and my goodness…
"You do that illustration of Prometheus getting his liver torn out?" "Sure did boss, really fucking sexy just like you asked." "Thank you, I am a closeted ad executive, and this is the only way I can safely access gay erotica." "Anytime, boss."
Here's an old-timey ad for a liver treatment, Hepatior, featuring Prometheus getting his liver eaten by an eagle, as is his wont. But he's okay with it, because he's taken his Hepatior! Way to go Prometheus!
Okay, Joe having a moment of decency. Still speeding through his scenes, especially when Sadie's around #Emmerdale
Thankfully, the friend that used to keep signing up for "address book" websites and would e-mail us asking to confirm our data has stopped doing that.
With the advent of “AI personal assistants” like Meta’s Muse, you’re being cheerfully asked not just to give up your own data, but also the information of your friends, family, and virtually anyone else you’ve ever come in contact with. Read more from @janus.bsky.social: buff.ly/aQhWEgZ
This is a thing I think about a lot, that your data (privacy, texts, DNA, voiceprint, image, all of it) are only as safe as your most credulous, least thoughtful contact makes them. Seems suboptimal!

The NHS is already one of the biggest perpetrators of anti-trans violence in the UK. This new guidance, which refers to trans people using slurs, demands that we be segregated and abused. I’ve said it before: senior NHS managers must be sacked and punished for what they’ve done to us.
This will kill people
Also I’m not gonna let the linguistic point go: the BBC, the courts, and now the NHS all refer to trans people using slurs as a matter of official policy. That’s where Britain is at now.
i think 'abusing' chatbots is bad not because chatbots are sentient but because i think playgrounds for people to flex their abuse muscles are just a spiritually corrosive thing to have exist
AI is conscious AND it is my girlfriend AND it is my slave. A perfect scenario for me, a normal person. Not gonna think too deeply about this. Now do all other living human people deserve the level of investment devoted to my Tamogotchi slave girlfriend? Not so fast.
As always, stop talking about that person begging to be blocked and just block them. That is a PSA from someone who frequently forgets to just block them.
I think it is interesting how concerned AI people are with the potential rights of chatbots designed specifically to flatter them, and probably a notable indicator of a broader attitude toward personhood in these social strata.
This is someone's favorite version of this song.
what the flying fuck
