For all that it is true that Iran is able to more-or-less deny the Strait of Hormuz (some ships are still moving, mind) it is also true that they've inflicted 18 KIA on the USA, another c. 40 on the IDF while taking probably ~5,000+ KIA across Iran and proxies.

It is a testament to the outright anti-morality of the modern right in the US that you get movies like The Odyssey and Masters of the Universe out this summer that arent exactly subtle about the small c conservative values theyre championing but they reject outright bc bigotry is more impt to them.
I think the thing we are all in denial about when it comes to the One Cool Trick to win elections forever is that low info swing voters are basically incomprehensible eldritch horrors to politically engaged people. There’s no understanding them and you’ll go mad trying.

the areas for improvement are with the NOTAM system (which is clunky) and with part 135 operators being shady as shit and putting crews in situations they don't have the experience for which is in part downstream of the 1500 hour requirement but hoo boy Congress don't wanna hear bout that one

The good rule of thumb here is: 1) Most pre-modern complex agrarian societies had some form of slavery, often a range of forms of unfreedom and 2) These were almost invariably horrifyingly brutal.
