the testimony about how we need public money to go into private hands so then the private sector can give to philanthropic organizations / non-profits was actually the clearest explanation of the rot of neoliberalism I've ever heard. The government should just fund public services & employ people.

I heard from PPB Chief Bob Day on OPB’s Think Out Loud today, and if you have a hyperactive amygdala, does he have some stories for you! Heavy on anecdotes, light on specifics. Why is the PR machine so active? Is it because the cop union spent $800k on a crooked ballot initiative and wants a return?
If you get your news from mainstream media, the next four months is going to be an unending stream of scare copaganda. No one is even going to attempt to answer why police response times have skyrocketed with stable staffing while other emergency response times have stayed more or less the same.
