When I’m Emperor of the World I will mandate comprehensive maps of airports by the entrance. I want to know where the good food options are before going too far!

I get the appeal of nostalgia, I really do, but I find it specifically funny to get a leaflet from Reform's candidate talking about how when he was in the Met 31 years ago, he would never have dreamed of lawlessness like the kind we now see in Kings Cross.

The ability to pour hundreds of millions of pounds into a loss-making TV channel, bent on wrenching British politics sharply to the right, is yet another of the ways in which extreme wealth is trying to remake UK democracy. It needs to be part of any serious conversation about political funding.

Happy cheese day to all who celebrate. And a good moment to remember that our political system is so broken that this woman, who is visibly inane, became prime minister.

#Onthisday in 2014: Liz Truss delivers impassioned speech on cheese and apple imports “At the moment we import two-thirds of our apples. We import nine-tenths of all of our pears. We import two-thirds of our cheese. “That is a DISGRACE!” www.politics.co.uk/history/that...

The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.

England is a made up thing. It has no basis in the ineluctable laws of nature. Its extent is defined by Edward II getting his arse handed to him. Athelstan conquering York. The Welsh of Cumbria were incorporated, the Welsh of Gwynedd were not. It is a political idea, an aspiration - not taxonomy.

Jacob Rees-Mogg, the most stereotypically Tory conservative man of the 21st Century, responded to Suella Braverman with a long-form video criticizing her position and rejecting a race-based theory of Englishness, and in response has been ratioed by the increasingly feral British online far-right.

Reform UK has been removed from the Alliance for Proportional Representation. It comes after a Q&A at conference where Reform MP Danny Kruger said: “On PR there is a significant danger [Lab.] will try to introduce it...Reform’s position is we support First Past the Post.” Reform's 2024 manifesto:

Proportional Representation Voting for the
House of Commons
Large numbers of voters have no representation
in parliament and new parties are shut out of the
political system. Voter turnout could be some 10%
higher with PR. A referendum is needed.
