So the answer to the competition question: my book The Quiet Man has been banned by California's Dept of Corrections — putting me in the company of Stephen King and George RR Martin. Thrilled, honestly. Turns out my prison break method was a little *too* convincing.

A letter on official letterhead from the State of California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), California Correctional Institution dated June 8, 2026. The subject line reads "PUBLICATION WITHHELD PENDING REVIEW." Addressed to McFori Ink Publishing, the letter states that the publication titled The Quiet Man will not be delivered to incarcerated persons at CDCR Mule Creek State Prison pending review, citing a violation of California Code of Regulations Title 15, Section 3006(d), which concerns materials that present a serious threat to institution security or the safety of incarcerated persons. The letter is signed by the Mailroom – MCSP, CDCR. Life of an author: 10 years ago I’d have been excitedly holding a proof of my first book. Cut to this morning and I’m opening a mysterious package that turns out to be a proof of my 23rd novel. “Ah crap, thought this was something good!” I mean it is good - but I’ve already read it about 12 times.

MCM investigations are back! Or at least Brigit, Paul and Jimmy are - Phil has mysteriously disappeared. The bonds of friendship are tested like never before when the team are left with no choice but to steal Ireland’s greatest treasure to literally save their own necks. Strap in for a wild ride.

REVIEW: The Big Steal – Caimh McDonnell

Pauly and Brigit are back in the third adventure for MCM Investigations, a spin off series from Caimh McDonnell’s Dublin Trilogy - and probably my favourite of all the series (although that’s like picking a favourite child). Following on from the events in Meanwhile in Dublin, the legend that is Phil Nellis is isolated from his group of friends, and is reported missing.
