Los Angeles friends, don't miss your opportunity to leave the 24/7 dread machine that is 2026 behind and take the Muzak-elevator express to a better, funnier world. It's One-Hour Martinizing for the soul, if I may be so bold. Aug. 19 at Vidiots, get those tickets soon.

Programme 4 - In Colour! With your hosts The Sklar Brothers and Jon Spurney on the Rhodes — at Vidiots on August 19th

I am a singer/songwriter with occasional side trips in screenwriting & theatre. Two of my sisters run a big Montana ranch and train horses. I've been on a horse once, and by "on" I mean I immediately slipped off & inexplicably held onto its tail as it dragged me through 300 yards of dirt & gravel.

Thought experiment- if you were suddenly appointed to do your sibling’s job, how badly would you suck at it?

This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days. ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.

RIP Randolph Mantooth--one of my favorite things about Randy (and his TV sidekick Kevin Tighe) is how these two stars of a mostly-adult focused medical drama somehow competed for dreamy teen idol pinup space alongside Donny Osmond, MJ, Jack Wild, David Cassidy, etc.

On this day in 1976 I nearly drowned in the South Platte River in Littleton, Colorado. My teenage uncle and some other race track kids were trying to see how long they could hold me under (hilarious game!) when I choked in a lungful of water and floated downriver. (1/x)

Another day, another human I know well who has had their brains cooked by AI. I told them they were acting like a cult member. They told me "not if but WHEN" I would be using it for my writing. I told them I'd rather have my kidneys removed from my body with rusty scissors.

“I’m a really lazy bitch, but I have a punitive superego. The two go together.” I profiled NYC’s own Colson Whitehead (@colsonwhitehead.com), who made me gumbo, opened up about his life, and showed me around the Harlem of his riveting crime trilogy www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...

Colson Whitehead’s Big Score

As he closes out his Harlem crime trilogy with “Cool Machine,” the two-time Pulitzer winner turns again to the city that made him, and to the private ghosts behind his restless reinventions.
