This! #Autism is not the problem, #ableism is. If #Trump and #RFKJr really cared about the struggles of the autistic community, they would be working to redistribute wealth to fund disability support and dismantle #ableist structures. #Eugenics is not the answer!

Rebecca@softgothkitten.bsky.social · 2y ago

RFK Jr is saying that "autism is destroying our kids." Autism didn't destroy me, but ableism almost did, and eugenics/the mainstreaming of disinformation certainly threaten to.

I’m hard pressed to come up with any single thing that has been studied as much as vaccines & autism (vaxx safety in general), or as debunked as a link between vaccines & autism. But even more striking is how these people clearly think autism is worse than your child getting a disease or even dying

CDC has updated its vaccine safety pages. Now says: "The claim 'vaccines do not cause autism' is not an evidence-based claim because studies have not ruled out the possibility that infant vaccines cause autism." Whoa #EpiSky #pediatrics #NeuroSky #PsychSky

The claim “RFK Jr. does not fuck chickens” is not an evidence-based claim because studies have not ruled out the possibility that RFK Jr. fucks chickens.

KEY POINTS
• The claim 'vaccines do not cause autism’ is not an evidence-based
claim because studies have not ruled out the possibility that infant vaccines cause autism.

When I took Alternatives to Suicide facilitator training, one role play was supporting someone who was fired from their job and felt suicide was the one revenge route available to right the injustice of being disposable to their employer. Responding to injustice is key to supporting people to live

Last year I stumbled across a man's suicide note on LinkedIn. He'd gotten laid off and then remained unemployed for so long that he saw no other way out. That's the sort of environment everybody's marinating in.

The system that created Epstein, protected him, and let him thrive for decades, still exists. His market of powerful monsters still exists, and they're still being protected. There is definitely, right now, someone serving the same role he did, being protected the same way by the same people.

I see people saying “I would use alt text but I keep forgetting!” Thankfully, @bsky.app has a setting for that. - Go to Settings - Then Accessibility - Toggle “Require alt text before posting” to the active setting. Now Bluesky will remind you to add alt text to all of your posts.

Bluesky Accessibltg Settings menu

Alt Text submenus

Options are:
Require alt text before posting
Display larger alt text badges

Both have toggles for on or off.

Excellent article. Everyone is up for sharing cupcakes at R U OK Day morning teas, etc, but how many people will actually pay more tax to enable us to change the things that would really make a tangible difference? #AusPol #Suicide #MentalHealth #Poverty #Centrelink #NDIS ##Medicare

Suicide prevention must be measured by whether life gets better - Croakey Health Media www.croakey.org/suicide-prev... Thanks Jo Riley for writing for @croakeynews.bsky.social readers on these important issues. #SDOH #AusPol

JobSeeker is nearly $300 a week below the poverty line. Immiserating people on welfare is utterly immoral and makes it even harder for those who can work to find a job. We're sick of Labor crying poor when the 1% grow their wealth in their sleep. Tax the rich. Raise the rate.
