Yikes, the amount of tanker aircraft assisting with the fire in Spokane is incredible - visible are 5 Canadair Scoopers and Super Scoopers, a Boeing 737, a Dehavilland tanker, at least three Sikorsky helicopters. There has also been a DC-10 tanker and now a DC-9 tanker. Just amazing coordination.

As an aside, this AI-driven marketing account is an abomination. Cheerily riffing on trending topics like A DEVASTATING WILDFIRE to drive traffic to businesses is beyond dystopian. Please help me block it into oblivion.

Holy crap. Level 3 (GO NOW!) zone now includes urban Spokane, south of Francis to Wellesley. Level 2 (GET SET!) zone now extends east of Division. Not to be alarmist, but at this rate, it’s not inconceivable that the Old Trails Fire merges with the Fairview Fire.

I’m not sure if the fire has actually jumped the river, but they are officially beginning evacuations in Northwest Spokane, including the Dwight Merkel Sports Complex, where more than 2,000 people are currently playing volleyball.
