Organizing yet more photos of my dad for a celebration of life we’re soon hosting in Pittsburgh and struck by the immense narrative difference between old film roll or Polaroid candids and the infinite retakes we get with ultra high-def iPhones. Simply changes the nature of memory and history.

'You'll choke too' - an aerial embroidery landscape inspired by all the wildfires happening right now... I'm upset every time I smell smoke outside and somehow we have people starting them maliciously too! But we all breathe the same air so they'll choke too (1/2 - see thread for close-ups)

An embroidery hoop containing a sewn landscape from above. It shows a forest on the right, a line of fire and charred ground with smoke on the left. The smoke is felted wool.

Today, I sat with my fears. And I’ve decided, all I can do is fight. I felt like I needed to blow a battle horn, but I don’t have one of those. So a saxophone will have to do. I don’t know what the future holds, and I’m scared. But you don’t become an Archdruid by sitting, and not living. 🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊

One of the challenges of content creation... Our dog, who was sound asleep just moments before, comes walking into the room panting heavily for no damn reason. I was recording with two cameras and a wireless mic setup.

This is why the only answer here is for leagues, teams, coaches, and players who actually care about their teammates and fans to loudly shout down this hate. She's gonna keep talking. Her shithead followers are going to keep showing up. They should be made to feel unwelcome. They are not welcome.

The WNBA product is so, so good. And there are enough people who want to consume it without wanting to embrace that fact that it's a league built by Black and queer athletes. CC gave them a way in that made them feel more comfortable, Cunningham is letting them wave their bigot flag proudly.

We already have a shitty, exclusionary place in sports: it's called men's sports. They built it like that on purpose. Let them own it and figure that out for themselves. Women's sports were built in opposition to that structure, built for inclusion. The WNBA has represented the best of that.
