On the internet, nobody knows you're a dog.

Disappointing this article does not highlight the fact the ABS recommended counting gender identity for all people, but Albanese intervened contrary to their advice to only ask this question of people 16 and over. Thanks to him, trans kids won't be counted. #auspol 1/ www.smh.com.au/politics/fed...

We’ve never known the size of the trans community. That’s about to change

Following a Labor backdown and years of advocate lobbying, new questions on gender and sexuality will be included in the August 11 census.

@insee.fr released France's daily deaths up to 30/6 so I was curious for Paris (one of the regions hardest hit by the heat in Europe) The impact is "beyond": On Friday 26/6, Paris saw more deaths than on any day during pandemic, incl during its huge wave 1

Bordeaux, France, has now recorded more days above 40°C in 2026 alone than during the entire 105-year period from 1920 (when observations began) to 2025. This is deeply shocking.

Former Chairperson of the Queensland First Nations Treaty Institute, Michelle Deshong, says that the No result of the Voice referendum seems to have given permission to governments to abandon everything to do with First Peoples.

"Labor will ensure working women do not retire into poverty" using "superannuation". Too bad about non-working women, I guess. Championing super as a poverty reduction tool is goofball stuff. The Age Pension sets the floor, super is the supplement linked to past earnings.

#BREAKING 🚨 Labor in their draft 2026 platform have replaced their previous statement of belief 'that there should not be poverty in a country like Australia' with a 'recognition' the social security system should support 'better health and wellbeing'.

Once again screaming: Before modern medicine, the NATURAL way of doing things (giving birth, fighting/preventing diseases, treating wounds, etc) was DYING. A LOT of people died, all the time. Mothers died, babies died; rich or poor, if you got a thing we couldn’t treat yet, ya dead. THAT’s natural.

if you think something being "natural" or "plant-based" makes it healthy and something being made in a lab and loaded into a syringe is inherently dangerous, you're an idiot. you should lose access to your kids if you harm them due to this belief www.propublica.org/article/more...

CICTAR’s damning report reveals just how crooked the employment services system really is. Ever wonder what those “employment providers” do with all the money the Government gives them to harass you? Donate it back to politicians! 1/2

A screenshot of an ABC News headline reading "Australia's jobseeker system fails workers and enriches millionaires, report says" by business reporter Gareth Hutchens, tagged "Employment Services"

2 things: 1. Yes they are. 2. Democrats ASKED THEM TO!!!! In 2016 and then 2020, Democrats BEGGED the left to stay in the tent, vote Blue no matter who and, and I quote, "if they want to change the Democratic Party, run in Democratic primaries and make your case." That's what they're doing.

“Democrats appear slow to recognize that ideologues on the left are attempting a hostile takeover of the party,” James Kirchick writes. In looking for a way to reclaim control, he argues, they could find inspiration in British history:

I would take ‘listen to LIVED EXPERIENCES not your bloodless charts’ if I had literally ever seen a response to ‘what do we do if lived experiences differ’ that did not boil down to either ‘listen to the people I like more’ or ‘charts’

This right here is literally why we cannot have nice things. No future democratic administration is going to run progressive macroeconomic policy. Better to have stagnant wage growth for the working class apparently.

The situation in Sudan is only getting worse and I know from the Sudanese community here they are watching in grief and horror. We know that countries like the UAE are fuelling this conflict, the Government must be ending the arms trade, include weapons funnelled through the third countries.

I’ve come to the realisation that as well as research, the Education bit in Higher Education now happens in spite of management’s and the organisational structure’s efforts, not thanks to it. At least here, they consciously work against students.

(I am only now in late middle age realising that my childish fantasy that academia allowed a lot of alone time with your thoughts & some books was an enormous lie & that success in nearly all of it is actually just a judgement of how many friends [non-enemies] you can make)
