Thrilled and shocked (throcked? shrilled?) that Year’s Best Canadian Fantasy & Science Fiction: Volume Three is a Best Anthology finalist in this year's World Fantasy Awards! This is the second WFA nom for a book in this series and just as much a surprise this time :) Congrats to all the nominees!

If SCREEN were to pass, you'd be required to scan your face and upload an ID to access this site because it allows "harmful" material. This affects you even if you don't care about sex work or porn.

Mike Lee's SCREEN Act, which heads to Senate Commerce Committee for markup on Wednesday, would expand age verification requirements to a nearly limitless scope of websites, and is supported by the architects of Project 2025.

I left a long winded and all over the place voice mail, and I’d encourage anyone else to do the same Encouraging children to use AI for writing and poetry is so out of step with the PBS I know. It’s also a terrible appropriation of RR, which taught kids creative problem solving and teamwork

Greg Pak@gregpak.net · 2d ago

I called WNET in NY to ask them to remove this video. I told them it was damaging to kids. You can call them, too! Call 212-560-1313 and press 2 to leave a message (the phone prompt seems to indicate 1, but that message directs you to 2). ny.pbslearningmedia.org/resource/ruf...

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

An aircraft passenger oxygen mask: a drop down passenger mask with air bag and yellow plastic mouth and nose cover, oxygen tube has been cut; Demonstration model used by flight attendant crew for passenger instruction. Has text on the side indicating that it's non-functional.

There's a website called Science Fiction Weekly (dot com) that appears to have reprinted a bunch (maybe all?) of Daily Science Fiction's stories. They claim they did so with author permission. They are lying. If you were published in DSF, maybe join a bunch of us in sending takedown notices?

Hey! If you were published at Daily Science Fiction, be aware that a site called Science Fiction Weekly has stolen the entire story database & posted it on their site. All of my DSF stories are there without my permission. sciencefictionweekly.com

I used to be in a lovely bubble where I almost never saw links for substacks and foolishly believed that none of yinz were still using them, but lately I’ve been seeing more and more links for substacks on so many interesting topics that I would definitely read and share if they weren’t substacks.

There is no excuse for anyone in 2026 to use substack. www.theguardian.com/media/2026/f...

P.S. I would still like for people to read THE BUTCHER OF THE FOREST and then look at themselves and be like "I am 30 or 40 years old and I do not need to be the protagonist of a fairytale horror story in a magical forest" us.macmillan.com/books/978125...

Unique Vintage just decided potential bigot dollars are more important than my human rights welcome to being trans in 2026 please let them know this is unacceptable to you, ESPECIALLY if you’re cis: service@uniquevintage.com

Unique vintage’s new Harry Potter collection I am so so incredibly disappointed to see this.
Licensed HP merch enriches JK Rowling, who uses her immense wealth to influence politicians to strip trans people of our rights. She is the world's biggest, most hateful transphobe, and is continually campaigning for legislative violence against trans people
She has been cited in court cases in both the US and UK that have further oppressed us for the crime of wanting to live our truth.
You sell pride merch, you claim to support your customer based and say we're all welcome, but when you do this you show trans people are in fact NOT welcome at UV.You would rather make money and further enrich a hateful bigot than support your trans customers. Frankly, I am crushed. You should know better. You should BE better.
I have been a customer for years and your clothes have brought me so much joy. And you just said you don't care about me as a customer, or as a human being.
You just went from my favorite place to buy clothes to somewhere I will never shop again.
Thanks for breaking my heart.

I’m hard pressed to come up with any single thing that has been studied as much as vaccines & autism (vaxx safety in general), or as debunked as a link between vaccines & autism. But even more striking is how these people clearly think autism is worse than your child getting a disease or even dying

Alicia Ault@aliciaault.bsky.social · 2w ago

CDC has updated its vaccine safety pages. Now says: "The claim 'vaccines do not cause autism' is not an evidence-based claim because studies have not ruled out the possibility that infant vaccines cause autism." Whoa #EpiSky #pediatrics #NeuroSky #PsychSky

bare MINIMUM please don't buy blended drinks from Starbucks. it's doing active harm to employees. the union is taking comments from baristas to gather evidence. but Starbucks has a history of ignoring feed back from their employees.

Loot drop after defeating me: -e-reader -black satin hair scrunchie -fanny pack (or bum bag, when the game is localized for the UK) -metal teapot & bag of loose leaf tea -tube of 50 SPF facial moisturizer -a library card -pit(s) from recently eaten stone fruit

Welcome to Premee Mohamed's Wickhills. If you were a secret agent, how do you think you'd compromise the mission? - I'd panic under pressure - I'd tell "just one person" - Enemy's hot? I'm spilling. - You'd never catch me hehe

Got one of the AI emails selling book services today -- "I, definitely a real person, have definitely really read your writing and if you reach out to me I'm going to make you famous!" -- except it was meant for the much more famous Catherine George who writes Harlequin Romances
