A frustrating thing about anti-trans Democrats is that they're often people who have no problem recognizing dogwhistles WRT poverty and immigration, but struggle to see the actual policy behind phrases like "transgender ideology," "boys in girls' sports," or "parents know best."
The concept of "romantic orientation" is hilarious given how many early representatives of the romantic movement were notorious libertines. Not to mention the somewhat homoerotic "bros before hoes" thing going on in that movement.
