I’ve been at several conferences where engineers and data scientists know they want artist collaboration but don’t know who or what to ask. It’s simple- just plant the seed and creatives will do the rest!! Trust artists to help amplify these important scientific facts and we can accomplish more

In 2017, a group of knitters got together over a shared worry: government climate data might disappear 🧶 Nine years later, it's a global movement, local temperature records turned into hand-knit tapestries. New episode: how a knitting circle became a climate movement. climateactually.com

In summer 2025, Black New Yorkers died from heat-related illness at 3X the rate of white New Yorkers. Latino residents died at 2X the rate. My latest investigation examines why New Yorkers are struggling to access cooling assistance as the city's heat becomes increasingly deadly.

The Margin's new feature, "Overheating at Home." More New Yorkers now die from summer heat than winter cold, but city and state funding lags behind the changing climate. By Jordan Gass-Poore'and Helina Selemon.

The explosion of e-bikes, e-trikes and e-scooters is truly revolutionary...The joy and freedom of biking is intoxicating for everyone who has had the opportunity to try out life on two or three wheels with a little e-boost.

Op-Ed | E-bikes mean freedom for low-vision cyclists like me: don’t take that away | amNewYork

So did a lot of other people who, like me, don’t have valid driver’s licenses. In July, the state’s new e-bike law went into effect. Among other regulations

TONIGHT! A gorgeous book you should get even if you can't come to any of Leah's events. A fast-paced, vivid (but thoughtful!) account of how the Inflation Reduction Act was created and passed.

DC needs an artist advisory council separate from the Arts Commission board. A dedicated, passionate group from all 8 wards of full-time working artists -- not advising on how to spend CAH money but how to move policy that improves culture and arts sustainability in the District.

In a perfect world (forgive me for being delusional but that’s what radical optimism is sometimes), Sheeran, Macklemore, and all supporting musical acts unite and heal, and put on their own massive concert in a month, and 100% proceeds go to support Gaza aid efforts.

From Day 1 I've been saying that they have zero intention on keeping KenCen as an arts center and every intention of making it MAGA HQ. I hope I'm wrong. But that is literally what nazis did and here we are. The ERR occupied art institution buildings. We have to protect the Smithsonians.

I resigned from ExxonMobil today. I spent the last three years doing fossil fuel extraction research at both BP and ExxonMobil. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing to maximize extraction while the window to act closes, and gambling with our lives. More below.
