When I am dying, let me know .... That I loved all lovely things That I loved with all my strength, To my soul's full depth and length, Careless if my heart must break, That I sang as children sing Fitting tunes to everything, Loving life for its own sake. - Sara Teasdale #Poetry 💙📚👀

A Prayer

When I am dying, let me know That I loved the blowing snow Although it stung like whips; That I loved all lovely things And I tried to take their stings With gay unembittered lips; That I loved with all my strength, To my soul's full depth and length, Careless if my heart must break, That I sang as children sing Fitting tunes to everything, Loving life for its own sake.

It ends or it doesn't. That's what you say. That's how you get through it. The tunnel, the night, the pain, the love. It ends or it doesn't. If the sun never comes up, you find a way to live without it. -Caitlyn Siehl #Poetry 💙📚👀

It Ends or It Doesn't

It ends or it doesn't. That's what you say. That's how you get through it. The tunnel, the night, the pain, the love.

It ends or it doesn't.

If the sun never comes up, you find a way to live without it. If they don't come back, you sleep in the middle of the bed, learn how to make enough coffee for yourself alone.

Adapt. Adjust. It ends or it doesn't. It ends or it doesn't. We do not perish.

And you begin to accept your defeats With your head up and your eyes open With the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child, And you learn to build all your roads on today Because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans And futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight. #Poetry 💙📚👀

You Learn

Jorge Luis Borges

After a while you learn the subtle difference

Between holding a hand and chaining a soul, And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning

And company doesn't mean security.

And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts

And presents aren't promises,

And you begin to accept your defeats

With your head up and your eyes open

With the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child, And you learn to build all your roads on today Because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans And futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.

After a while you learn...

That even sunshine burns if you get too much.

So you plant your garden and decorate your own soul, Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.

And you learn that you really can endure...

That you really are strong

And you really do have worth...

And you learn and learn...

With every good-bye you learn.

Most Days I Want to Live by Not all days. But most days I do. Most days the garden's almost enough: little pink flowers on the sage, even though the man said we couldn't eat it. Not this kind. And I said, Then, gosh. What's the point? The flowers themselves, I suppose #Poetry 💙📚👀

Most Days I Want to Live by Gabrielle Calvocoressi

Not all days. But most days I do. Most days the garden's almost enough: little pink flowers on the sage, even though the man said we couldn't eat it. Not this kind. And I said, Then, gosh. What's the point? The flowers themselves, I suppose. The rain came and then the hail came and my love brought them in. Even tipped over they look optimistic. I know it's too late to envy the flowers. That century's over and done. And hope? That's a jinx. But I did set them right. I patted them a little. And prayed for myself, which is embarrassing to admit in this day and age. But I did it. Because no one was looking or listening anyway.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

Heavy drops, carrying more than they can bear, fall from no-where, bending leaves already sagging, and one by one, the leaves let go. .. Surrender is like this. Not giving up, but missing and letting go. - Mark Nepo #Poetry 💙📚👀

SATURATED, by Mark Nepo

Heavy drops, carrying more than they can bear, fall from no-where, bending leaves already sagging, and one by one, the leaves let go.

They drift to the earth, each quiet as a master juggler missing everything so completely that he realizes he is being juggled.

Surrender is like this. Not giving up, but missing and letting go.

[Salt]

23 May 2026

we loved salt.

in moderation, it was crucial. dangerous, in excess.

in the sea, it was the divinity.

on the floor, it was superstitious. on the wound, it was searing.

in tears, it was a witness. in sweat, a menace.

on your grave, i left a bag.

a kg of salt. in case heaven wasn't that blessed.

That we can make a house called tomorrow. What we bring, finally, into the new day, every day, Is ourselves. And that's all we need To start. That's everything we require to keep going. Look back only for as long as you must, Then go forward into the history you will make. -Alberto Rios #Poetry 💙📚👀

A House Called Tomorrow

Alberto Ríos - 1952-

You are not fifteen, or twelve, or seventeen-You are a hundred wild centuries

And fifteen, bringing with you In every breath and in every step

Everyone who has come before you, All the yous that you have been,

The mothers of your mother, The fathers of your father.

If someone in your family tree was trouble, A hundred were not:

The bad do not win-not finally, No matter how loud they are.

We simply would not be here If that were so.

You are made, fundamentally, from the good. With this knowledge, you never march alone.

You are the breaking news of the century. You are the good who has come forward

Through it all, even if so many days Feel otherwise. But think:

When you as a child learned to speak, It's not that you didn't know words-

It's that, from the centuries, you knew so many, And it's hard to choose the words that will be your own.

From those centuries we human beings bring with us The simple solutions and songs,

The river bridges and star charts and song harmonies All in service to a simple idea:

That we can make a house called tomorrow.

What we bring, finally, into the new day, every day,

Is ourselves. And that's all we need To start. That's everything we require to keep going.

Look back only for as long as you must, Then go forward into the history you will make.

Be good, then better. Write books. Cure disease. Make us proud. Make yourself proud.

And those who came before you? When you hear thunder, Hear it as their applause.

When I stepped ashore in this body I was recognized at once and given a name . Somewhere in a field, my hair. Somewhere in a lake,my skin, some rooftop where my gaze rested some star, a wish. This is my address on earth: temporary, fragile, a name in the phonebook, at the moment, alive. - #Poetry 💙📚👀

JOYCE SUTPHEN

THIS BODY

When I stepped ashore in this body I was recognized at once and given a name.

My bones were smaller, but the shape of the cheek and the chin are the same.

This is the only body I know: this color my eyes, this color my skin. Every scar is mine.

I have become as tall, as slim, as old as I am. My voice has carried the weight of what I had to say.

Words were scattered along the way: words on gravel roads, in hallways and staircases. Words on a wire.

Somewhere in a field, my hair. Somewhere in a lake, my skin, some rooftop where my gaze rested, some star, a wish.

This is my address on earth: temporary, fragile, a name in the phonebook, at the moment, alive.

You are free. The river films with lilies, .....: the light Looks after you, you feel the waves' goodwill As arms widen over the water; Love, The key is turned. Extend yourself. It is the Nile, the sun is shining, Everywhere you turn is luck. - Louise Gluck #Poetry 💙📚👀

THE UNDERTAKING

The darkness lifts, imagine, in your lifetime. There you are-cased in clean bark you drift Through weaving rushes, fields flooded with cotton. You are free. The river films with lilies, Shrubs appear, shoots thicken into palm. And now All fear gives way: the light

Looks after you, you feel the waves' goodwill As arms widen over the water; Love,

The key is turned. Extend yourself. It is the Nile, the sun is shining, Everywhere you turn is luck.

joy has been beckoning you for many a year my friend you were just too busy doing, to see the very next time joy wraps her quiet warmth around you as the garden embraces your weary body in its wildness tip her a nod...she doesn't stay long but if you are a gracious host joy comes back. #Poetry 💙📚👀

JOY COMES BACK

When you finally realise that joy is less fireworks, more firefly less orchestra, more birdsong she will come back much more often

for joy will not fight with the fast pace of this life she is not in the shiny or the new

she breathes in the basic, simmers in the simple and dances in the daily to-and-fro

joy has been beckoning you for many a year my friend you were just too busy doing, to see

the very next time joy wraps her quiet warmth around you as the garden embraces your weary body in its wildness

tip her a nod...she doesn't stay long but if you are a gracious host joy comes back.

No, no, there is no going back. Less and less you are that possibility you were. More and more you have become those lives and deaths that have belonged to you. You have become a sort of grave containing much that was and is no more in time, beloved then, now, and always. -Wendell Berry #Poetry 💙📚👀

There is No Going Back

Wendell Berry

No, no, there is no going back. Less and less you are that possibility you were.

More and more you have become those lives and deaths that have belonged to you.

You have become a sort of grave containing much that was and is no more in time, beloved then, now, and always.

And so you have become a sort of tree standing over a grave.

Now more than ever you can be generous toward each day that comes, young, to disappear forever, and yet remain unaging in the mind.

Every day you have less reason not to give yourself away.
