1/ More than 99% of CUPE cabin crew workers at WestJet voted in favour of a strike mandate. We've seen what Mark Carney does when workers legally exercise their rights. The Liberals have used Section 107 multiple times to stamp out worker power, forcing them back to work without a fair contract.

Today, my colleague @leahgazan.bsky.social and I wrote a letter calling on the Minister of Jobs, @pattyhajdu.bsky.social, to refrain from violating WestJet workers’ right to strike.

The right to strike is not an inconvenience, it's a cornerstone of our democracy. That's why the Liberal government must not use Section 107 to force flight attendants back to work, as it did with Air Canada workers last year.

The NDP stands in solidarity with WestJet workers on strike, fighting to end unpaid work. Join us in calling on the federal government to respect these workers' right to strike!

The rest of the world is racing ahead on renewable energy, leaving Canada behind.

NEW at City Hall: Ken Sim and ABC just voted against restoring the Renters Office. ABC eliminated this office dedicated to supporting at-risk tenants back in January 2023. We're going to restore the Renters Office after we evict ABC in October.

Today ABC voted to displace a building of renters for hotel, many of whom are low income seniors who will not find replacement housing in their n’hood. A community who looks out for each other, gone. Like so many before them. This is not the Council decision causing the most angst on my timeline.

If the Carney government is serious about Canadian economic independence, it should move to block this contract immediately, with new legislation if necessary. Collaboration between Canadian corporations and ICE should be illegal.

Last week, Ken Sim's ABC approved a motion that would slam the door on vital health services that save lives, connect people to care, and provide treatment for drug addiction. I'm deeply concerned that this will create barriers to offering harm reduction services that cannot be overcome.

Called my bank today and I’m like 95% sure they’re using this. Obviously this is a Sick Burn if they weren’t, but the guy sounded like a robotic caricature of a white person. I can’t decide what’s more racist: the existence of this tech or the customers making companies want to use it. I hate it.

Two things can be true simultaneously: Canada's government is not doing enough to deal with climate change and it's associated fires, instead building pipelines AND The USA has driven climate change like no other entity on the planet and is just as much, of not more to blame for the wildfires.
