BREAKING: The Boston Red Sox are acquiring three-time All-Star catcher Adley Rutschman in a trade with the Baltimore Orioles, sources tell ESPN.
The Dodgers are going to offer Ceddanne $450 million when this series is over, even though he’s not a free agent.
I asked Dave Roberts what he thought of the Red Sox. He had some interesting thoughts:
Tornado watch in effect, thanks MD for setting me straight forever on this
After the Red Sox lost, 5-1, to end their 15-game winning streak, a number of fans stayed and applauded.
The Red Sox have won 14 games in a row. They're one away from tying a franchise-best 15 game winning streak accomplished by a stacked 1946 club that won 104 games and the AL pennant. What a wild ride.
FINAL: Red Sox 6, Orioles 5 Caleb Durbin's eighth inning homer makes the difference as the Sox come from behind three separate times to win their 14th straight game. www.bostonherald.com/2026/07/20/c...

The “gooool” of the 2026 World Cup does not belong to Erling Haaland, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe or Harry Kane. Instead, that honor belongs to Livano Comenencia of Curacao, the tournament’s smallest participant.
yeah we’re gonna have to ban prediction markets
People are making wildfire bets on prediction markets. Experts say it could lead to disaster | CNN
As the catastrophic Los Angeles wildfires raged last year, people placed bets on how how many acres the fires would consume, which locations they would reach and when they would be contained.

Our two investigations into Madison Square Garden are now unpaywalled and free for anyone to read.
Yesterday, WIRED learned that Madison Square Garden was suing us for our accurate reporting. We stand by our work. That’s why we’re removing the paywall from two of the MSG stories they don’t want you to read, making them free for everyone.
are young people today aware that there was an active effort 20-25 years ago to stop depicting smoking as cool and glamorous because people got tired of watching their loved ones die of cancer and heart disease from something preventable? seems like classic history repeating itself stuff
I genuinely hate the push to make smoking a thing again. I have watched so many drawn out, ugly, painful deaths from smoking. It makes everything disgusting. It enslaves us to the worst kinds of corporations. There’s ZERO positive here.
Hey, New Yorkers: Mayor Mamdani is recreating the city's digital service, after Mayor Adams destroyed it. They're hiring devs, designers, and product folks to work on-site in Brooklyn, starting now. You don't even have to be a city resident. Get on it!

Does replacing parking with bike-lanes hurt restaurant business? Of course not, as this new peer-reviewed STUDY of 15 years of Montreal data showed. ACTUALLY, downtown experienced significant restaurant growth after bike lanes were installed. @momentummag.bsky.social momentummag.com/do-bike-lane...
Local broadcast calls and crowd shots always hit
as called on TV2 Norway:
BREAKING: Zohran Mamdani announces click-to-cancel rule for NYC. This rule is aimed at guaranteeing New Yorkers can cancel subscriptions as easily as they sign up — and stopping corporations from trapping customers. This will save New Yorkers up to $162.5 million per year.
The USMNT and Knicks being really good except for the precise moment when Trump involves himself is really funny

I learned how to write courtroom dispatches by studying good sports reporting—the play-by-play zip, the punchy verbs, etc. But honestly, sports journalists could learn a thing or two from legal journalists, too. Lesson for both: always read the local rules!!!
did any sports journalists even raise article 27 as a possibility before now? every source i read after the game seemed to be like “there is no way balogun will be able to play against belgium bc FIFA rules don’t provide a way to challenge/appeal the red card”
