I genuinely hate the push to make smoking a thing again. I have watched so many drawn out, ugly, painful deaths from smoking. It makes everything disgusting. It enslaves us to the worst kinds of corporations. There’s ZERO positive here.

BREAKING: Zohran Mamdani announces click-to-cancel rule for NYC. This rule is aimed at guaranteeing New Yorkers can cancel subscriptions as easily as they sign up — and stopping corporations from trapping customers. This will save New Yorkers up to $162.5 million per year.

I learned how to write courtroom dispatches by studying good sports reporting—the play-by-play zip, the punchy verbs, etc. But honestly, sports journalists could learn a thing or two from legal journalists, too. Lesson for both: always read the local rules!!!

did any sports journalists even raise article 27 as a possibility before now? every source i read after the game seemed to be like “there is no way balogun will be able to play against belgium bc FIFA rules don’t provide a way to challenge/appeal the red card”
