Crazy Cat Lady Abroad@crazycatladyabroad.bsky.social · 5d agoI get hairless cats for people with allergies, but I'm still...let's say not exactly convinced it's a solution which is fair to the cat. So many of the rest of the things we do with breeds are wholly indefensible. And I'm just as happy with rescues as I ever was with purebreds.

If someone really wants a Sphynx they turn up in rescues fairly often and there are networks of wonderful people who help to rehome them! People often buy them because they look cool but then don't want to keep up with all the maintenance and care they require and give them up for adoption.
Gin; Top Tier Trashᵀᴹ@scratchkitty.bsky.social · 4d agoI have a sphynx (he's a rescue) and i can say they require so much care. Its not just baths like a lot of people think. They are prone to so many problems. Like I love them as a breed, but also agree they should NOT be a breed.
