The way we stop upland fires is dramatic rewetting and rewilding of our hills and reducing emissions like it's a life or death situation... Using every lever available to the state domestically and internationally to immediately cut emissions everywhere. It's literally the only way we can stop them

Climate change is making Europe hotter and drier, and that's massively increasing the fire risk - this is the third study from @wwattribution.bsky.social in recent weeks looking at this triple threat. And things are only going to get worse until we drastically cut our emissions to get to net zero.

Human-induced climate change made the extreme fire weather that fuelled the recent destructive wildfires at least twice as likely in France and at least 20 times more likely in Spain, according to our new study.

#ClimateChange is ridiculously expensive! — more so than phasing out fossil fuels. A new study says that NY State will surpass half a trillion dollars on infrastructure spending related to climate change by 2050. Now this is just one state. And one type of cost! www.nytimes.com/2026/07/23/n...

A study from a group called Rebuild by Design estimates that the money will be needed to repair the effects of climate change in the next 24 years.

Yesterday afternoon 14:09 in Lacanau Océan in France. A pale red sun through the smoke tinged everything in Mars style orange. Welcome in the climate emergency! Despite all denial of the fossil fuel lobby, it’s scientific fact: CO2 emissions heat up Earth & make fires worse. 🔥🔥🔥

Some sensible soul has started a petition on banning the sale of disposable BBQs. Given the number of wildfires we've had in the UK and have seen over in Europe, this is an absolutely obvious thing to do.

Petition: Ban on sale of disposable BBQs

We want the Government to introduce a nationwide ban on the sale of single-use disposable barbecues. Disposable BBQs are increasingly linked to preventable wildfires, which poses a serious risk to pu...

Climate change is making extreme weather events more frequent and more dangerous, even in Europe. It's not something that happens to other people. It's not something that will happen in the future. It's happening now, TO ALL OF US, and it will keep getting worse until we decide to act.

Holiday in the climate emergency. No that’s not AI or edited, just a snapshot I just took with my phone on Lacanau beach in France. What future will this boy grow up in? It is in our hands, but time is running out.

Yet again tonight's BBC coverage of drought and fires fails to mention cause. News At Ten reporting by Justin Rowlatt omits to say the words "due to burning of fossil fuels". Continued refusal of BBC to call out cause of climate change is why we wrote to editors pressgazette.co.uk/news/climate...

Connection between greenhouse emissions and extreme heat in UK 'indisputable'.

Probably more helpful to think of them not so much as “Canadian wildfires” but rather “climate change wildfires currently consuming Canada”

I am once again begging Hollywood to stop using the Greek alphabet for an Ancient World movie, if they can't afford to even throw a couple of quid at anyone with an inkling of the language. Unless they really think audiences are dying to see THS THDPSSSSPS

🧵 Heatwaves in the UK might conjure images of ice cream on the beach - but our new study estimates that more than 2,700 people died from heat-related causes during the May and June heatwaves in England and Wales - with 42% of those due to the extra heat added by human-induced climate change.

Infographic showing 100 people. 42 of them are in a darker shade, representing the 42% of the heat-related excess deaths that are attributable to extra heat from human-caused climate change

Under a Binface government, anyone who doesn’t accept human-made climate change as fact will be sent back to school, from Year 1 right the way to A Levels, to see if anything goes in the second time round. #VoteBinface

Scan your local news today. How many stories are about something climate change is making worse...without saying so? I counted 8 of those in my feed today, vs just 1 that named climate change directly. Why does this matter? Research shows that making this connection changes how people see it.

Nine screenshots of my google news page today, each describing issues that are directly impacted by climate change, from more dangerous wildfire to changing flood policies.
