Yes!! You're making me think about the concept of "bleed" in RPG studies! Huizinga's magic circle of play is POROUS and we are simultaneously representing and creating who we are (and who we are to become)! #literacies
A2: Rules are constraints, but I also think rules can be affordances. These days, I have been thinking a lot about graduate writing & the so-called "rules" of unfamiliar genres we - as advisors, colleagues, mentors - do not necessarily teach or expose our students to (e.g., grant apps). #literacies
Only 10 min til #literacies chat! Come share your perspective on Play and Interaction in Literacy Learning!
Have you marked your calendars for our June #literacies chat Play and Interaction in Literacy Learning with Dr. Alex Corbitt @alexcorbitt.bsky.social ? We would love to hear from scholars, students, and in-service education professionals alike!

A5: I am excited to keep reading widely and deeply this summer, both academic and non academic texts. I always want more time for this in the academic year, and love reading while traveling and/or on the move 📚#literacies
Q5: Happy Friday! We hope this slow #literacies chat has brought about new thoughts, inquiries, and connections. More broadly, what are you hoping summer 2026 brings for you, professionally or personally? #literacies
A4: Our research team studying digital writing in a platformed age is loving playing with our data at Dream Lab this week through @pricelab.bsky.social at Penn! #literacies
Q4: Let’s share resources! What kinds of #literacies opportunities, symposia, conferences or events are you looking forward to attending this summer?
A2: ever since I was in the classroom full time, I have I always tried to keep YA/children’s books as part of my regular reading rotation. Hari Kumar: Ultimate Superstar and Ghost Boys are two I have been wanting to read #literacies
Q2: Let’s share our summer TBRs! What articles and books are on your summer reading list?
Got a bag filled with craft supplies ready to go! See you all there 🎨
Bring your crafting supplies to #AERA2026! #literacies
A6 1/2: I think of Toni Morrison’s quote that the purpose of racism is distraction. I think “Victorious Futures” in this sociopolitical context means not merely reacting but continuing long-term proactive building of power and resources for the flourishing of minoritized communities. #literacies
A6: Thinking back to our opening question, I think a "Victorious Future" must necessarily be a co-constructed one, a future that, much like the good ole Fortnite gaming lobby, is made by a multitudinous mix of folks, all doing our own dances yet working toward the same #victory. #literacies
A2. I’m interested in how asymmetric games - games in which players have different roles, objectives, and mechanics (i.e., Netrunner, MtG, Root) - might illuminate ways that people can compose together in community through processes that are both unique AND congruent. #literacies
More reason communities must end Flock contracts: "Flock devices have been installed by more than 100 public school systems nationally...and audit logs from six Texas school districts show campus camera feeds are captured in a national database that police agencies across the country can access.”

We had so much fun creating a pop-up museum with everyday artifacts at the Penn Ethnography Forum. Shoutout to the amazing youth publishers at NOVA LitMag for their leadership. Such moving stories and reflections on how the objects in our lives bring us together and carry stories of their own.

Our kids don't deserve to live with gun violence. Neither do yours. Neither do kids anywhere on Earth. “The children are always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe; and I am beginning to suspect that whoever is incapable of recognizing this may be incapable of morality.” Baldwin.
