Sadly, it's not just billionaires who use ableist slurs. Many people who consider themselves to be allies seem to believe that as long as they're referring to a terrible person, insults related to their intellect, age, or some illness or disability are acceptable. They're not. #AbleismAwareness

Communication is a two way process. It therefore should not solely be the responsibility of autistic people to resolve communication problems. If you're non autistic, find out more about double empathy and ask yourself what you can do to improve the situation. It will be easier than you think.
Meanwhile, if you’re, I dunno, a left wing politician, the same people will be weirdly vindictive about you come what may. Apparently environmental goals or wealth redistribution aren’t the right kind of sacred cow.
I think a lot of ppl within the media really, really enjoy the idea of ppl on the left, or even progressive people of any kind, being baited by columnists. The whole ‘I may not agree with him but he wasn’t afraid to slay the odd sacred cow’ thing is entirely conditional on who the cow was sacred to.

When the National Autistic Society is calling out your misinformation about autism then you have *seriously* overstepped because they are usually quite careful about how they react publicly - especially when it's someone like Dame Uta Frith.

People need to be thinking about disability and learning about ableism in the same way they learn about other forms of minorities and discrimination. Enough of the "work ethic".

It’s not something you can “try harder” your way out of. You can be the healthiest person in the world & completely disabled in an instant. It’s a minority group you can join anytime.

The way men's clothing sizes go S/M/L/XL etc but women's are 8/10/12/14/16 and so on. Why can't we have the same sizing models?

Always good to see research backing up what has been known in the community for a long time: even minimally speaking autistic kids in bilingual environments will naturally adapt and respond to the language of their caregivers, so no need for them to switch to a language they're less confident in.

These are some of the most popular, covering communication; rumination and inertia; how neurotypicals often think and act; and neuroaffirming DBT skills.
