Watching a lot of horror movies this season and I think, for me, the worst part about being brutally murdered by a supernatural entity is that I wouldn't get to be all smug about being right to the friends/family/cops who didn't believe me.

It's funny thinking back to the argument that Dems couldn't get rid of the filibuster when they were in power because they'd miss it once the GOP was in power.
It's remarkable to me though how many still can't see, even if they acknowledge this in reflective moments, they essentially organise their political life so much around resisting the smug moralists they are de facto agents aiding the political project of the authoritarian right. I'm currently watching the new season of Invincible and have been pretty good about figuring out who the voices belonged to so far in the series. I don't know what was wrong but it just hit me at the end of episode 4 that the narrator was @pftompkins.bsky.social. Yet another reason to watch.

The US airplane belts out, "Tell me if you think it'd be alright..." The rest of the line is drowned out as the crowd goes wild.
The phenomenon of “leftist language policing” is 99% a product of centrists whining about it constantly. I almost never encounter it in real life and requests for vocabulary updates are typically non-binding guidelines for formal written documents.

Being a kid is raging against the injustice committed against Dr. Frankenfurter by Riffraff. Being an adult is recognizing that they committed several crimes including murder. Being a grown up is realizing ACAB and if you don't kill the cop in your head you just love watching beauty die.
