Surprised more born and raised Calgarians were not aware of this fire yesterday. A lot of us grew up on local Spokane TV. Also breathing in unfiltered wild fire smoke, its not just trees, its mattresses, cars, building materials. Mask up when exposure is nesasary during a smoke event.

Also, why can people just buy a vehicle that has a death rate DOUBLE the average for people outside their vehicle. I feel like very large trucks need some regulations so people driving them in the city prove a special requirement to have it and special abilty to drive it safely around other.

People are arguing between road design and enforcement. In the Netherlands, not only do they have both, but they have a third tool: presumed liability. Drivers who hit a pedestrian or cyclist are presumed to be at fault until proven otherwise. This would be a powerful tool in our litigious society.

Something I'll never understand - if I want to make substantial enough changes to my house, it has to go through a neighbourhood consultation process, but someone on my block can buy a vehicle that significantly increases the chances one of my kids gets run over.

In Sunnyside, admittedly not a typical demographic cohort, I’d say people do see the value the cycle track has provided in slowing down traffic. Instead the perfect circle VD is of people who oppose bike lanes and those who have unused parking on their property (for reasons) & park on the street.🤷‍♂️

I cannot recommend n95 and kn95 masks enough. I've covered enormous wildfires multiple times throughout my career (southern california reporter) and they have saved my ass time and again. Remember, burning houses also means burning household chemicals
