So @matthewseiji.com a terrific writer, designer, musician, wanted to to learn film making, took a course at UW and made two short films. One of them is a documentary that is debuting at Tasveer Film Festival. It's called Eka. My part was easy, he did the work tffm-2026.eventive.org/films/6a85fb...

I also find it incredibly useful to write a crucial scene with a new character’s dialogue in it to find their voice, or to write phrases that they’d say into their bio. Once you have the flavour of how they speak, it’s so much easier to find them as a person

The Cartoon Network leak revealed that the team actually wrote fake interviews for the Powerpuff Girls in-house so that the writers could understand them better and honestly this is incredibly useful for learning how to characterize your characters holy shit

Silent Hill Townfall: Really sure you want to pick up this pistol? Might want to think of the ~implications~ of that. Me: I don't have to? I can just play stealth? SHT: You cretin. You fool. You absolute buffoon.

Horror game designers, I am once again here to remind you that your goal is to make your player feel constantly under threat, but not actually to have them die and restart. Repetition is the death of tension.

I love the idea of the CRTV in Silent Hill Townfall. It's not as good as Siren's sight jacking but it's pretty good. But the problem is that it makes it clear when enemies are around and when they aren't, which releases a huge amount of the pressure the map is trying to produce.

Pile(BUN)ker. I usually don't work on this during the week, but I needed to unwind something fierce and this helps fight the bad brain bullshit. So, I spent time trying out audio for the execute. Made 5 different cam angles for the kill to reduce fatigue. I am pleased. #CherubDev #UE5 #GameDev

I dunno, it just doesn't seem plausible that stochastic analysis of artifacts produced by human brains will be sufficient to simulate the source. I don't think you get rainbow tables for neurons by parsing the tiny subset of brain output that gets digitized. Your brain is a 50 terabyte private key.

One of Hideo Kojima's real talents is that he would have exactly this idea but the stew would be dropped off by a drone that sings a little jingle which can alert enemies if they're in range. You then get a phone call from a nuclear scientist who warns you not to eat too much starch and dairy.

yeah sure whatever, let lara croft cook potato stew on her phone for 2m0s of damage resistance who gives a shit anymore

a screenshot from the upcoming remake of Tomb Raider 1. lara croft is looking at her phone in the middle of an ancient ruin, and it's showing her a generic crafting menu, and a png of saucepan of stew that apparently her phone lets her cook for "Damage resistance" if she has 6 potatoes
