I love learning about the world in all its complexity. Let's help make the world a more compassionate, accepting, and understanding place. I've been using library sciences and AI to help orgs control their information chaos for the last 20 years.

The WNBA has never had a trans woman play in the league’s 30-year history and now the right and other anti-trans activists are hammering the league over something that has never been an issue, proving once again it isn’t about protection but exhibiting cruelty toward trans people.

Peter Navarro went to prison for refusing a subpoena related to his involvement in the Jan. 6 attack on the capital. He has spread baseless claims about the 2020 election. Clearly he is a bad actor, as defined by @jayrosen.bsky.social and yet the National Post trots him out. 1

Once again, the Canadian newspaper owned by Americans has hired one of the worst Americans to tell Canadians in this “Canadian” paper that we suck. Stop giving government grants to this shit, @liberalca.bsky.social 😡

Canadian arts and culture folks: the federal government has launched a (methodologically flawed) survey on "the Cultural Sector's readiness for Artificial Intelligence". If you're ready to resist or refuse genAI, here's your chance to let them know. pch.research-recherche.ca/f/s.aspx?lan...

Like all Canadian government surveys on AI, this is hilariously pro-AI. But it only takes like 5 minutes to fill out, and at the end you can make it clear that the only focus of the government when it comes to AI and culture is that Canadian artists need copyright protections from AI scraping.

I think one reason data center outrage is so pronounced is people spent decades recycling and composting and otherwise scrimping to offset energy use and protect clean water, and the second we hit an inflection point for cheap electricity the banking industry said we’re taking all of it, fuck you

Under a Binface government, anyone who doesn’t accept human-made climate change as fact will be sent back to school, from Year 1 right the way to A Levels, to see if anything goes in the second time round. #VoteBinface

Carney was asked about the bridge today, and it seems pretty clear his earlier description of the deal was wrong. Debt servicing/repayment is not part of the bridge's expenses. It's instead taken from the net revenue Canada will now split with the US for 15 years www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

Carney Defends Deal With Trump to Split Bridge Toll Profits

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney defended his decision to give the US a share of the profit from a new bridge between Ontario and Michigan, saying there will be little to no proceeds to split at fi...

Toni Morrison said, “Art does not cleanse you and make you morally superior... even when it has a very strong political content. The artist himself is not made any better. I still have to try to be the best person I can be.” Art, scholarship, or activism––there’s the work and then there’s the work.

“But the bigger problem is how much of the media of ‘the left’ is dominated by men who appear to have no understanding of sexual abuse or intimate partner violence, but do have a pretty hefty sexist streak that they either aren’t aware of or don’t care to remedy.” YES @juliedicaro.bsky.social

We have an even bigger problem than Graham Platner

The candidate's rise and fall perfectly illustrates the sexism in lefty media

Even before Carney, for every dollar Canada invested in renewable energy, we spent $19 on expanding fossil fuels. Now we've abandoned any climate action beyond the most dishonest lip service, fully devoted to maximizing climate warming at top speed. environmentaldefence.ca/2026/07/09/n...

While his mountain of horrible personal conduct could fill multiple books, one fact in particular stands out: A year ago, Musk’s actions directly led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. He did it knowingly. And, worse — gleefully. Read more: www.theverge.com/tech/949259/...

The Ellisons now own TikTok, Paramount, Warner Bros, CBS News, HBO, Comedy Central, and CNN, among other major channels. They are also the largest private donor to "Friends of the IDF." They also paid $7 billion for streaming rights to UFC, which is hosting an event at the White House.

Canada is literally handing over refugees rejected at border to ICE in the US. Haitian refugee Markens Appolon, for eg, sought refuge but Canada handed him to ICE agents. He is still in ICE detention. There is a seamless connection between Canada's new anti-migrant laws, like C12, and ICE terror.

Last few weeks I have a "radio" (old school) on in the evenings in the house, background, always on CBC Radio 2 ("CBC Music"). It's really good. Curation! Just heard this fantastic tech-house track & I shazam & it's Rich Aucoin, a Cdn musician I don't know but will dig into. Radio is good.
