Argo CD stuff, Crozet Virginia stuff Physically can't stop talking about bike/pedestrian infrastructure. It's a problem, please help.
My 14 year old wants to bike the ~3 miles to high school. I told him he can’t do that because it’s not safe, as the city hasn’t prioritized the well being of kids and other non-drivers. It doesn’t have to be this way - and isn’t even that hard to fix - but it is this way.
Bike lanes are only expensive when you over engineer them to avoid any possible perceived inconvenience to cars.
I think this is fundamentally wrong but in an interesting way I will need to write about sometime. The key is a) consumers do not choose what is produced, or how, they choose between what is produced. This is a crucial difference
I think my most genuinely unpopular take is that a widely held and genuine consumer preference for cheaper, lower-quality goods, not private equity, is driving the decline in quality of consumer goods like clothing and housewares.
Noting that housing opponents have compared housing for renters to nuclear power plants and highways today, Lin says, "I don't think housing and future residents are toxic waste or pollution that need to be studied for years and years and years on end. I believe housing is a human right." !!!
This definitely doesn't read like Google trying to astroturf a shift against an age-old argument that they're a search monopoly
I'm actually fine with sounding old.
Americans see things like this daily, but then go on Facebook to have a moral panic meltdown about a kid that was riding their bike on the sidewalk.

TIL that FISA is unilaterally selected by Roberts
Like the FISA court, the ATRC's 5 judges are selected by Chief Justice Roberts. Judge Boasberg noted the court's existence last year when DHS sought to summarily deport 130 Venezuelan nationals Trump labeled "terrorists" under the Alien Enemies Act. www.politico.com/news/2026/07...
YOU PASS LAWS TO FORCE KIDS OFF THE INTERNET AND THEN CREATE TASK FORCES TO PUNISH THEM FOR GOING OUTSIDE, WHERE THE FUCK ARE CHILDREN ALLOWED TO EXIST???
Charlotte joins major cities across the U.S. in grappling with the rise in disruptive “teen takeover” activities.
I am not sure where we will land on a proposed sidewalk snow ordinance, but this is my feeling as well. These are public infrastructure and should be municipally maintained. I also feel this way about stormwater - municipalities should maintain stormwater ponds, eliminating the need for many HOAs.
"In most U.S. cities, a pothole is treated as a public problem, but a broken sidewalk–even one that blocks access–is treated as the homeowner’s problem." A hill I will die on is that sidewalks should be maintained by the government, from repair to snow removal. theconversation.com/why-denver-s...

Knowing Ezra Klein is a member, can we all just acknowledge now that “abundance” is just repackaged neoliberalism?
I truly don’t know if I’ll be able to talk about this without tearing up, but I am so thrilled to see this proposal on the agenda for tomorrow.
JFC, not this shit again. Hardening car infrastructure is not the solution to our sustainable future.

To folks comparing WH events to a "trailer park" or "waffle house"... why is this your critical framework? 🤔
Heard a comedian say "Americans drive trucks because it's the closest you can get to driving a gun."
Spotted this ad for an F150 trim package. The goal is to be intimidating. They're not even pretending anymore.
That's the highlights I had from the RWSA presentation; I was really surprised we didn't have more members of the public. I hope the information percolates out in Crozet: we are not, barring ecological catastrophe, in danger of running out of drinking water.
I have always liked that townhome development behind what used to be Clover Lawn. It has that city close style, but doesn't feel overly crowded or aggressively cookie cutter. They were "affordable" when they were built, and are still more affordable than a lot of Crozet. Plus, actual walkability.
i've been thinking a lot lately about who gets to preserve their "quality of life" and who doesn't, especially in our area.
This is so infuriating. Why does the County bother having "affordable housing" as a goal? communityengagement.substack.com/i/201140736/...

Yeah, I had the issue of wanting a specific cover for my upcoming album but having no money to afford to pay someone to draw it, and a lot of people recommended generating an A.I. image... So I just drew it myself instead. It's still a W.I.P., but A.I. can't do anything better than I can. 🤘
