Doesn’t necessarily show well, but I made this liner for a maille standard and a trauma plate to go on it. All together you can see how it lays. The liner protects the wearer’s skin from the maille, and the plate helps protect the throat from direct hits. Powdercoated for reduced maintenance.

The only correct take on these two. I mean we can fuss over his use of wealth and all that, but leaving it aside, “world’s greatest detective” is more interesting than “accidentally sent to a place that gives you super powers.” Always prefer heroes you could sort of see a way to being.

Politics-watchers have long been exasperated by those with leverage to make things better but who refuse to use that leverage, but my read has been the general public hasn't picked up on this particular problem. Thank you, Ed Sheeran, for your service in educating the normies.

Ten years ago today was one of the coolest press trips I've ever done, lapping Iceland in an MX-5. I don't tend to do the slidy photos as frankly it's not something I can do repeatably well, but when you're given a gravel hairpin and scenery like this it'd be rude not to.

Ok but there’s a place in like…. I dunno. North of the Gold Coast that has good spam musubi and now I could go for that. I love their sign when you come in: “no poke, no pineapple. We don’t do that kind of Hawaiian.” I gotta look them up and drop in again.

I note that every time I note that young people generally prefer cultural things from their own era, and designed for them, some folks think that means I think they could/will never appreciate something older and/or I think nothing good happened before 15 or 20 years ago. On our way back we noticed there is a tremendous amount of advertising from the US Department of Commerce (via "Brand USA" f/k/a the Corporation for Travel Promotion) trying to convince people to vacation in the USA Here are a couple we saw. There are many, many others

It's a false economy. A legion of diseased, charmless nerds with skull calipers who've piggybacked on the bottomless vanity of one 80 year old and his unique, non-replicable stranglehold on the American attention span. The clock is ticking.

Knocked out a couple sets of big tent stakes. These were 15” sections of 1/2” square bar, tapered and bent over to make stout anchors. I’m pleased with my consistency — it’s great practice at tapering, and the bending jig has worked a treat.
