I realize this is a pretty 'intellectual conservatism c. 2019' inside baseball, but I still find it remarkable. Like, I think if you labored mightily to hand incredible power to basically an unhinged, virtue-less lunatic for half a decade, the reckoning on that should be...significant.

That would at least put the squeeze on Iran too.
