I realize this is a pretty 'intellectual conservatism c. 2019' inside baseball, but I still find it remarkable. Like, I think if you labored mightily to hand incredible power to basically an unhinged, virtue-less lunatic for half a decade, the reckoning on that should be...significant.

So...five months later, it looks like 'squeeze Iran's economy with a perpetual blockade while getting as much other oil out as we can' is the strategy. With the occasional exchange of explosives. So...called it, I guess.
As an aside, it speaks to the absolute incoherence of US strategy here that we haven't *also* blocked the strait, preventing Iran-friendly traffic (and toll-booth-payers) from transiting, using our large conventional navy. That would at least put the squeeze on Iran too.

The best TV writers know how to build and maintain tension. Not conflict, that's present in nearly all writing. I mean tension. I was thinking about Vince Gilligan and what draws me into his shows (BB, BCS, Plur1bus).
