Don't get me wrong, I love Lauren Laverne and I love 6 Music, but some of the stuff that she plays certainly does cross the line between "coolest thing I've ever heard" and "headache inducing repetitive nonsense that wouldn't sound out of place in Guantanamo Bay"

Handheld MiSTer testing has gone well this week. 2 x 21700 Battery cells and life is looking around 10 to 11 hours on the PlayStation Core. The Gameboy is looking like 12 Hours. Zaparoo front end is looking really good too.

Thanks to everyone who came down to the @retrocollective.co.uk sale day yesterday - it was great to see everyone and so good to send some of my collection off to good homes. It was priced to sell and sell it did - very rapidly! Just one small box to take home. (Never mind the Amstrad...)

No apologies for sending this out a few times over the next week. Our son is looking for a year in industry/placement as part of his Software Engineering degree in Southampton. He's in line for a First, very capable and good at digging into problems. However roles are rare right now. Can you help?

The butchering of id software, in the midst of a brilliant comeback for the studio over the last 10 years, feels like a punch to the gut. I don't see how they can recover from this. After 35 years, id software is effectively gone. Can't believe it.

I’m so sorry for everyone at id Software affected by these layoffs. I know what it feels like to leave id while id goes on. It’s a strange and painful thing to step away from a place that holds so much of your work, friendships and history. 1/5
