Oh Mad One

It was a bad time for the Empire. The Shogun just stayed inside his castle, and he never came out. People said his brain was infected by devils.

Trump is rape-apologist-in-chief for a reason. It's second nature when he has had to do the same in court on multiple occasions for himself and cover for pal and fellow-rapist Epstein. Unless the accused are non-white, of course.

“You can trust Donald Trump to walk into a situation and automatically make it worse.” Donald Trump has said the 'Cornell 7', who are alleged of gang-raping a woman, won’t get a “fair shake”. Why’s he involved at all?

the U.S. press can't acknowledge the biggest cause of U.S. division is right wing extremism (and the attack on civil rights, consumer rights, ethics, female reproductive rights, and the rule of law), because you might upset advertisers, sources, subscribership, and white male conservative ownership.

You know, it is almost as if the whole point of this was to generate headlines rather to launch a rounded, considered defence project. The costs, the capability, the technology - all imagined. She's flogging vapourware and she knows it.

"I'm not a defence expert." Even by Kemi Badenoch's lamentable standards, this is agonising. Just give thanks she will never, ever be Prime Minister. 🙏 #politicslive

Thing about Badenoch is her immense self-confidence does communicate itself to voters and is one reason her ratings have improved. But you've got to think during a campaign more people would notice it is entirely unjustified.

The thing is, this isn't some gotcha memory test about "what precise amount of money will this cost/raise" of the type beloved by interviewers in election campaigns. It's the most basic question imaginable - "how will this thing work?" She has no idea.

If you believe this, I have a bridge to sell you. The prime directive of the Conservative Party is to get and hold power. The idea that it would risk throwing away the opportunity merely because it involved an albeit uncomfortable arrangement with another right-wing party is clearly for the birds.

Kemi Badenoch: I'd rather have another election than do a deal with Reform UK

The Conservative Party leader also pledged to cut the cost of hiring 21 to 24 year olds.

The post on the Franklin DNA work by @matthewcobb.bsky.social is fantastic, though Matthew has understandably disabled comments, so mine are going here. The tl;dr is that history (including the history of science) is generally complicated and resists simple retrospective narratives (such as here...

Yeah a few runs in, and Galactic Racer meets the hype. Shockingly good narrative design… I already care deeply about the roster of frenemies. If, like me, you’re a ‘one racing game every couple of years thank you very much’ kinda person, consider this as an option.
