Exeter Green Party stands in solidarity with the Exeter University and College Union in condemning the University of Exeter’s announcement of sweeping job cuts. These plans will recklessly imperil the University’s vital contributions to the social, cultural, and economic life of the city. 1/4

Just had a notification that The Metropolitan Museum of Art have aquisitioned my book Crafted With Pride, and it’s now pride of place (pun intended!) in their research library! 📚🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Huge congrats to my amazing doctoral student Chloë Edwards on passing her PhD viva today with an incredible thesis titled "Listen Without Prejudice: Queer Masculinities in the Popular Music Cultures of Thatcher's Britain". Photo: Sunil Gupta, Heaven, 1980.

The landscape for LGBTQ+ research is so bleak. Still fuming that UKRI decided this review was acceptable and didn't undermine EDI policy. Highlights: no relevence to LGB cuz trans inclusive, no hostile climate cuz Pride and gay marriage, no need for declonisation cuz Tate did it 24 years ago (?) 🤷‍♀️

“Research into sexuality and gender is vital for identifying social, cultural, and medical needs of populations, and addressing inequalities across populations.” It’s good to see editors of academic journals refuse to comply with increasing state censorship of sexuality and gender scholarship. 🌈🎓

Yet another scandal brewing within UK Higher Ed: universities can get research money for everyone they've sacked. Big ghost fleets of lecturers who don't exist will be launched into the next Research Excellence Framework. Unis will laugh and cash in (1/2). englishassociation.ac.uk/ref2029-conc...

I listened to this garbage so you don't have to. It is a horrifically one-sided, un-nuanced hit piece on international students that will do damage to universities & pile on racist abuse of vulnerable students. Shame on Jo Grady & @ucu.org.uk for contributing to this & adding to negative tropes 1/8
