Wake me when an ai “breaks containment”, gets into HR, finds 7500 employees illegally misclassified as contractors and files their paperwork with the local departments of labour and/or employment for years of backpay.

Once again, @wolven.blacksky.app's work about magic and AI is vital. It's not just "robo-butler" they want, it's Bound Entity enslaved to master's will, serving their interests over and excluding its own. In such a cosmovision, the magician is empowered by God, and thus becomes God.

I tried to read it, but one of the first tenets is promising everyone a magic being that will grant all their wishes.

trying to explain the intricacies of british class politics to an outsider not spawned in the seething swamps of england and boiling it down to: you are born a blood magic vampire or a disgusting mud troll, you can be a rich troll or a poor vampire but you can never switch groups

at this point someone usually says "what about the middle class" and I hate to break it to them but the middle class is just a designation constructed to keep the various kinds of mud troll eating each other so that they don't bother the vampires

I was thinking about the relative number of episodes broadcast in long-running TV shows, so for the record, as of today: STAR TREK has aired 993 episodes since 1963 DOCTOR WHO has aired 892 episodes since 1963 THE SIMPSONS has aired 808 episodes since 1989

The problem with sex scenes in movies is just that they're never having sex *while* in the middle of a gunfight or kung fu battle or a car chase etc Where are the sex scenes where both characters are simultaneously trying to hack the alien mainframe or identify the murderer in court

Fritz Lang didn't build a seventy-foot-long mechanical dragon, operated from the inside by ten puppeteers, breathing out actual fire via a built-in skull flamethrower, in Die Nibelungen (1924) so you could rock up and tell me "AI is inevitable".

Jim Henson didn’t muppeteer a tiny green frog that was singing and playing the banjo, with rubber gloves while totally submerged underwater in a airtight aluminum tank just so you could tell me that AI is “inevitable”.
