Lucille Ball--actress, comedian, producer & film-studio executiver--was born #OTD in 1911. In 1962, she bought out Desi Arnaz's interest in Desilu Productions & became the 1st woman to own & run a major TV studio. Desilu produced many popular TV series including Mission: Impossible & #StarTrek. 🖖

A mountain hare sits upright on a patch of rough, grassy ground, its long ears held alert as it scans the surrounding landscape. Its summer coat is a warm mix of brown and grey, blending perfectly with the earthy tones of the habitat, while its pale chest and underside contrast with the darker fur along its back. The hare’s large dark eyes and fine whiskers are sharply in focus, giving it an attentive, watchful expression. Soft, blurred grasses in the foreground add depth, drawing the eye to the animal against a natural backdrop of green vegetation and dry grass. Mountain hares (Lepus timidus) are native to northern and upland regions of Europe, where they are adapted to cooler climates. They are found across Scandinavia, Finland, Iceland, the Scottish Highlands, the Alps, parts of the Carpathian Mountains, and into northern Russia. In many of these regions, they change from a brown summer coat to a white winter coat, providing excellent camouflage against snow. In places such as Ireland, where mountain hares occur in suitable upland habitats but snowfall is less reliable, they may remain largely brown throughout the year or show only limited whitening in winter.

Is everyone aware of the General Motors streetcar conspiracy? In the mid-20th century, auto and oil interests bought up electric streetcar systems across the US and systematically replaced them with bus routes and paved roads, funneling commuters toward private cars.
