Spider friend and slow-moving retro aficionado. Everything I say is important and completely true.

To answer "what was the craziest you got during lockdown?" I excavated this tweet from Aug 3, 2020: "The Beatles' "Good Day Sunshine" is the same song as Dead Kennedys' "Too Drunk To Fuck" and honestly I don't owe you or anybody a better quality recording than this. In fact I never asked to be born"

I'm researching softlocking video games and I'm looking to the internet for help! If you know a game that can be softlocked, I'd appreciate responses to this form: forms.gle/Qz9TihR5BgTG... Feel free to respond as many times as you'd like! The full info helps but just game and description is fine!

It's perpetually frustrating as someone with a computer science degree how the broad use of the term "AI" launders legitimacy to the bubble. Chat-GPT is not the same thing as a machine learning algorithm that detects cancer, but Sam Altman fights tooth and nail to keep you believing they are.

This shit is why you can't separate continuing to financially support the Harry Potter IP (whether by buying the games, merch, watching the new TV show when its out) from the consequences of what JK Rowling does with that money She's become so stiflingly powerful that even private docs arent safe

I've never seen such an effort to censor a document as I have the Amnesty International report on gender critical groups because of JK Rowling. They removed the report from the Wayback Machine and now I got a DMCA strike on my Google Drive for having it. It was deleted and removed from my account.

A screenshot of an email viewed in dark mode with the subject line "Google DMCA Violation." The email from Google informs the recipient that they have received a notification under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) that some of their materials allegedly infringe on copyrights. It explains the removal process, mentions that notice details will be posted on Lumen, warns against repeated violations, and lists one affected Google Drive URL at the bottom

I'm curious how well this is going to work with bsky's compression. Anyone ever get entirely to too close to a CRT display? Close enough to see the individual phosphors?

On the 20th of August 1983, Daicon IV was released. It was made by Daicon Film, a 12 man studio with the 3 founding members being Hideaki Anno, Hiroyuki Yamaga, and Takami Akai. The studio would later go on to become Gainax studios. Happy 43rd Anniversary 🎉

I'm certainly in no position to propose any better solutions, but I feel a vague yet substantial unease at so much of the web now being pulled under cloudflare's umbrella out of necessity to resist the incessant ddos-level scrape attacks LLMs are doing across the entire internet
