Former health professional with an increasingly ridiculous mishmash of learned knowledge and lived experience. Living on Arrernte country in Central Australia. Please be kind 💚

I’ve had another hit to my baseline. So sorry to everyone I owe messages to. There’s not sufficient help and resources to manage what’s happening to me so I keep getting worse. This is the reality for many disabled people. The supports aren’t there. If you don’t have someone, you’re screwed

Bravo to the year 11 students doing hospitality cert III prac from a commercial kitchen. As one of the 'guests', I reckon this would hold up pretty well on Masterchef! 👏😋

A dessert on plate. There is a slice of chocolate 'something' with a slick of gold icing across the top, a quenelle of icecream topped with a curl of white chocolate, and a red macaron.

Life without painkillers means lying down, all day, all night. Basically I flop around on the couch like a dying fish. Can’t do anything else. It was bad enough before, but this is definitely worse. This isn’t a life, it’s torture. I’m out of 6 of 13 scripts. Too sick to get help. Life sucks.

Even I’m sick of my own whinging, but if the government is going to neglect me to death, I’ll be going out kicking and screaming. Fuck going quietly. People shouldn’t be neglected like this.

Wednesday Take it as it comes but I'll head into the hospital to see mum (who is starting to get a little cabin fever now she's well again) and hopefully get her out for sunshine and coffee again

I'm really sad this afternoon to learn of the death of Leo Koziol (Ngāti Rakaipaaka, Ngāti Kahungunu), founder + director of the Wairoa Māori Film Festival, champion of Māori storytelling. I first met him way back in Planet mag days in the early 90s, and even then he always had something on the go.

Suicide is the absence of hope. Hope that the pain will subside. Hope that you aren’t all alone. Hope that there are better days ahead. As long as there is life, there is always hope. With death, all hope is truly lost. Please don’t ever give up hope on yourself.
