You're trying to imply some hidden layer of selfishness, like "if you weren't inherently driven to do good with physical and mental responses, you probably wouldn't do good." It just feels weak to me. Humans are social creatures, we want to help one another. Kindness is woven into our DNA. Cope.

"Altruism isn't real, people only do nice things to feel good or avoid feeling bad" is such an 8th grader's opinion of psychology. IDK man, if a creature experiences physical/mental anguish when it fails to be kind and experiences joy when it helps others, that sounds selfless/altruistic to me.

"You shouldn't make art for the money" buddy I'll take it one step further and say we shouldn't have to labor for capital at all but in the meantime pay an artist
