The Democratic Difference

@demdifference.bsky.social

An account focused on highlighting the differences in economic outcomes under Democratic and Republican policies, often with charts.

here is the thing. if you tell me that you believe that race is a biological category and that it is a guide to the objective superiority and inferiority of groups of people, i am not calling you a racist to *insult* you, i am calling you a racist because it best describes your beliefs.

not only that, they are demanding that they not be called racist when they are observed to be signing up to support the racist

When he ran for President, Trump promised he would lower costs on Day One. And today? The cost of groceries is up. Cost of housing—up. Cost of utilities—up. Cost of health care—up. Cost of gasoline—up. Cost of pretty much everything you need to buy—up, up, up.

What our troops endured aboard the USS Lincoln is unforgivable. Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth must answer for this egregious lack of planning.

Our servicemembers cannot keep paying the price for their failures.

As the concern about the debt exacerbates the bond market, the Treasury secretary just said that he & OMB would be pursuing hundreds of billions in cuts to federal spending. I think the obvious Q is why they can now do what Musk could not

The President bungled this war in Iran right from the beginning. Six months later, he's stuck, families are suffering, and 18 Americans are dead. November is our chance to send a message to him, and everyone around him, that they're doing a horrible job.

The labor market data is still pretty blah. Better than it was last fall but worse than it was a few months ago. Job gains will probably be better in August than in July because the latter were abnormally bad but I also think the UR is more likely to rise than fall

Can't get enough of the Natalie Harp stuff. The 1:1 parallels with the girl from Obsession. Everyone in rightwing media pretending she's 16 years old so they can be mad, their favorite mood. The phrase "over-the-diaper handy" entering the lexicon. Keep it up everybody.

Bessent is still claiming the economy is strong. Families juggling rent, groceries, and childcare costs are living a different reality, one where every basic expense keeps getting harder to cover. The billionaires in Trump’s administration don’t have to worry about that.

Just one poll but "Despite public media reports that El-Sayed is facing a divided Democratic electorate after a bruising and closely contested August 4th primary, he leads Rogers 91%-0% with self-identified Democrats and leads Rogers 46%-24% with Independents and unaffiliated voters."
