A really funny complaint about the Zohran discount grocery store idea is that non-poor people could use it when there’s a grocery store half a mile from my grocery store that has everything cost 20% more that rich people go to because they don’t want to shop with normal people.

Professional writer organizations should not send out pro-AI propaganda in the form of tantrum-having "essays" to their members, and I don't think that's controversial.
Regarding The Pro-AI Tantrum In The HWA Newsletter
Today I, and every other HWA member, received the HWA newsletter in our inboxes. In that newsletter was an essay (“essay”) of pro-AI propaganda that made a number of specious points in …

Of all the things to admit on the internet, “I don’t know how bananas work” is one of the funniest
Spoken like a man who has never had to shop for himself.
Did some ladder work yesterday. All five of the masks from our vacation this summer have been added to the wall, as has the Mardi Gras mask. Some stuff had to shift and we added two more columns. It’s quite a collection now.
PSA: It's even worse. Craig not only operated a revenge porn website, but he also was engaging in racketeering by secretly running several shell companies that offered a paid service that would remove your revenge porn *from the revenge porn distro sites he owned*.
Does everyone here know that @craigbrittain.com, who is currently masquerading as an anti-MAGA warrior, was fined in 2016 for operating a revenge porn website? A *lot* of y’all follow him. ⚠️ Marked as unsafe. ⚠️ www.ftc.gov/news-events/...
I had wondered where this Road to Damascus conversion came from. Today I learn that Russia has turned off the money to Tenet Media. The guy is apparently purely mercenary.
MAGA is changing its tune. Tim Pool isn’t just a #MAGA propagandist – he’s a Russian asset. His company, Tenet Media, received money linked to Russia, and there is an investigation into it. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more anti-Ukrainian commentator.
“Is it fair that taxpayers are asked to pay for roads that they may never drive on?” “Most people never set foot on an aircraft carrier, but taxpayers are on the hook for the cost.” These guys have no idea how stupid this reporting is, do they?
that is very literally how taxes work
I keep thinking about the public pools during desegregation ex Isabel Wilkerson brought up in Caste. Rather than have integrated public pools, communities closed them after fed govt intervention req desegregation. Rather than benefit from a shared public good white supremacy says fuck everyone.
There is no version of yourself you could become that would satisfy the people who hate you. So you might as well be who you are.
I literally laughed out loud. Look, I have template letters. If you do the same kind of document over and over, it is a time saver. But people, you HAVE to edit your template, you can’t just run it like this.
“he dies of alcoholism, suicide or cancer. a short illness followed by a heart attack.” What
Worth posting in context as it is bang on topic.

Every few years a comic company repeats the mistake of holding a contest for artists to "win" a gig, in this case it's Ghostmachine's cover contest. "Submit 3-6 samples of cover art featuring Ghost Machine Characters. . ." Some people see opportunity. Experienced pros see a scam. 1/8
The Bar Exam is a ritual intended to make you prove you should be admitted into the legal “guild”. It serves no purpose as a credential or proof of ability: its only purpose is gatekeeping.
The bar exam tests you on memorizing large amounts of law, and for the record, it would be malpractice for a lawyer to rely solely on memory while practicing law because you should always check to make sure your memory is accurate and also that the law hasn't changed. It is a useless hurdle.
trans rights frankly is a top 5, potentially top 3 issue for me despite not being trans and not having any trans family being bigoted against trans folks not only hurts my trans friends and every trans person but is so predictive of further bigotry

It is comforting to know that there are a few companies willing to do market research and believe their customers. “I want a huge vat of drink that won’t spill in the car.” Instead of an ad campaign telling customers they are wrong, Dunkin leaned right in. They chose to believe people.
a lot of companies very much do not understand what business they are in or what their customers want. Dunkin is not one of them www.dexerto.com/food/dunkins...

The inability of @nytimes.com to properly credit other journalists (in this case Abby/us) is something that of course journalists feel most dearly. But it is absolutely indicative of the arrogance that leads the paper—which is great/I support—astray and weakens the trust that people have in it.

Everybody deserves a say in the future of banditry. We don't have to resort to fortification and militia training to get it. Even if one community succeeds in keeping the roving marauders out, they will just raid another community.
