An investigation by @desmondcole.bsky.social reveals the province knew the tool would discriminate against Black people—and used it anyway.
There are arguments that the kind of resistance that defeated glassholes is no longer possible, or that “normal” looking glasses change the equation, but branding surveillance glasses as the domain of losers, weirdos, and perverts can still be effective.

This is one of many reasons why designing societies around cars was a mistake. It's not a path to follow, it's something that good civic leaders are now trying to undo. These guys don't understand *anything* about society, yet governments are allowing them to shape our futures with their ignorance.

Gil Durán@gilduran.com · 4mo agoThe CEO of Palantir posted a fascist manifesto on X. I pointed out that it was fascist—which resulted in a permanent suspension from X (my second time!). So, when you hear the tweeters complaining that BlueSky is intolerant, remember why many of us came here in the first place.

I came across *the* example I have been hammering with these food delivery robots. A man with a mobility aid is forced to step aside because there is not room for him because the robot will not make room for a person (esp. those with a mobility aid who need addditional room)
Here's an idea: Any Democrat who wants to be taken seriously as a presidential candidate in 2028 must pledge to rip this cabal of anti-democracy tech fascists out of our government. Anyone who won't make that pledge is for the billionaires, not the people. This must be a deal-breaking litmus test.
