Excuse the fuck me? They are using AI to put Black prisoners in conditions of greater torture in Canada? Does AI do anything that's not violently antiblack? @hypervisible.blacksky.app
Ontario jails are using an AI tool that claims to predict prisoners’ behaviour. And it’s disproportionately placing Black prisoners in maximum security. An investigation by @desmondcole.bsky.social reveals the province knew the tool would discriminate against Black people—and used it anyway.
There are arguments that the kind of resistance that defeated glassholes is no longer possible, or that “normal” looking glasses change the equation, but branding surveillance glasses as the domain of losers, weirdos, and perverts can still be effective.

This is one of many reasons why designing societies around cars was a mistake. It's not a path to follow, it's something that good civic leaders are now trying to undo. These guys don't understand *anything* about society, yet governments are allowing them to shape our futures with their ignorance.
“.. He said cars were once portrayed as killing children, but the world changed its norms by having sidewalks and crosswalks .. “When I was growing up, I used to play in the streets,” Huang said. “When cars came along, you obviously can’t play in the streets now.” apnews.com/article/nvid...
It's official! I'm *permanently* banned from X for tweeting "TLDR: Fascism." (appeal denied) What an honor—and a sign that the Silicon Valley billionaires feel threatened by my book. (One of my final viral posts featured this cover.) Pre-order here! www.simonandschuster.com/books/The-Ne...
The CEO of Palantir posted a fascist manifesto on X. I pointed out that it was fascist—which resulted in a permanent suspension from X (my second time!). So, when you hear the tweeters complaining that BlueSky is intolerant, remember why many of us came here in the first place.
This raised crossing is extremely effective at reducing speeds where pedestrians cross. Speed limit is 30 km/h on this local street but traffic slows to maybe 15 or so at the ped crossing. Draper Street, Toronto
the fact that Tesla is able to deploy driving automation of any kind after more than 50 deaths and a decade of fraud and coverups is the regulatory failure... it's already happened, the failure mode is here, this isn't something we have to look forward to

"Cities are meant to stop traffic. That is their point. That is why they are there. That is why traders put outposts there, merchants put shops there, hoteliers erect inns there. Rationally one wants to have traffic *stop* there, not go *through*." —Kirkpatrick Sale, Human Scale.

I came across *the* example I have been hammering with these food delivery robots. A man with a mobility aid is forced to step aside because there is not room for him because the robot will not make room for a person (esp. those with a mobility aid who need addditional room)
Here's an idea: Any Democrat who wants to be taken seriously as a presidential candidate in 2028 must pledge to rip this cabal of anti-democracy tech fascists out of our government. Anyone who won't make that pledge is for the billionaires, not the people. This must be a deal-breaking litmus test.
A Palantir billionaire just called for public hangings. “It's time to bring back masculine leadership to protect our most vulnerable,” writes Joe Lonsdale. This is where Silicon Valley authoritarianism is heading: www.thenerdreich.com/joe-lonsdale...

Really can't overstate how problematic robotaxis become at scale: "Urban traffic is constrained by the fact that getting around by car either requires (expensively) paying someone else to drive or (inconveniently) driving oneself. Without such constraints the result could be brutal gridlock."
