Lawyer who's not afraid of math

Soft Rains Day. "Today is August 4, 2026, in the city of Allendale, California. Today is Mr. Featherstone's birthday. Today is the anniversary of Tilita's marriage. Insurance is payable, as are the water, gas, and light bills." RIP Ray Bradbury, 1920-2012

There Will Come Soft Rains
By: Ray Bradbury

In the living room the voice-clock sang, Tick-tock, seven o'clock, time to get up, time to get up, seven o 'clock! as if it were afraid that nobody would. The morning house lay empty. The clock ticked on, repeating and repeating its sounds into the emptiness. Seven-nine, breakfast time, seven-nine!
In the kitchen the breakfast stove gave a hissing sigh and ejected from its warm interior eight pieces of perfectly browned toast, eight eggs sunny side up, sixteen slices of bacon, two coffees, and two
cool glasses of milk.
"Today is August 4, 2026," said a second voice from the kitchen ceiling, "in the city of Allendale, California." It repeated the date three times for memory's sake.
"Today is Mr. Featherstone's birthday. Today is the anniversary of Tilita's marriage. Insurance is payable, as are the water, gas, and light bills."

if the online right can’t post on bsky without getting blocked by so many people it makes the place too dull for them to hang around, i suggest they go and learn some manners and then try again

This gaslighting from Max Miller is textbook abuser behavior. "If I'm such an abuser, why was she nice to me afterwards?" Because you are the father of her child and she is forced to see you regularly. Because she wants to try and make life seem normal for your daughter. Because you scare her.

Rep. Max Miller: "My former wife has claimed that during a custody exchange at my home that day, I assaulted her…If I had assaulted her, would she have offered to cook me dinner six days later?"

It continues to fuck me up that we stay thinking about 9/11 but want to memory hole Covid so bad we're destroying the entire concept of public health in the US.

In the United States, there have been 103,436,829[3] confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 1,238,563[3] confirmed deaths, the most of any country, and the 17th highest per capita worldwide.[43] The COVID-19 pandemic ranks as the deadliest disaster in the country's history.[44] It was the third-leading cause of death in the U.S. in 2020, behind heart disease and cancer.[45] From 2019 to 2020, U.S. life expectancy dropped by three years for Hispanic and Latino Americans, 2.9 years for African Americans, and 1.2 years for White Americans.[46] In 2021, U.S. deaths due to COVID-19 rose,[47] and life expectancy fell.[48]

“Many places you would like to see are just off the map and many things you want to know are just out of sight or a little beyond your reach. But someday you'll reach them all, for what you learn today, for no reason at all, will help you discover all the wonderful secrets of tomorrow."

And, like so many traumatized people, they inflict trauma. Folks, I am sorry for what happened to you but I promise you. Standard Time is better. It’s better in *winter* when you are sad and it’s dark. Those of us who grew up in OneTime places can help you. Standard. Get up in the light.

BREAKING: My office is suing Paramount/Warner Bros to block their proposed $110 billion merger. Combining the two Hollywood giants would unlawfully reduce competition in the film and tv industry and raise prices for consumers. You shouldn't have to pay the price of corporate greed.

This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days. ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.

Pedestrianization is often framed as transforming streets. In many cases, we're actually restoring them. We're reclaiming what's been lost: social connection, local commerce, civic life, and human-scale movement. Perhaps it's time to shift from street transformation to street restoration.

We need to stop forcing new developments to “break up the box.” It makes building designs worse, reduces usable square footage and the amount of housing we can create, increases long-term maintenance challenges & hurts energy efficiency. 📍 Reading, MA (1900)

It has been criminally underreported but Kelsey Pfendler has just rowed solo across the Pacific Ocean from the US coast to Hawaii in record time. A 2,400-mile unsupported journey in 43 days, 17 hours, and 55 minutes. Notably beating the Men’s record by 9 whole days.

"why didn't they come forward sooner" every single time a woman comes forward men become the douchiest fucks imaginable about them and their lives and chocies and try to justify why bad things happened to them and that's before we look at the failures of police and the justice system God damn it.

3/ Seeking high office anyway, knowing what's out there, is reckless. Being confronted with the reporting and doing anything but quietly withdrawing from consideration is the height of selfish egotism—a deliberate choice to retraumatize survivors and betray your own supporters.

They got away with *exactly this lie* when it was a white woman in Minneapolis, you think they don't know they'll get away with it when it's a Black child? They've been getting away with murdering Black children since 1619.

Mississippi police shot and killed a 1-year-old child who was in the car with his mother. Autopsy reports reveal the child was shot through the side of the car, contradicting officers' claims that the car was heading towards them.
