Missouri voters have overwhelmingly rejected Amendment 5, the GOP-backed plan to phase out the state income tax and replace it with higher sales taxes

Fresh Air had a reminder that the first Black Miss America had to surrender her crown after nude photos were published. First "lady" of the "party of family values" gets to live high on taxpayer dime after the whole world saw her nekkid. (Russian TV constantly shows the pix.)

FYI: Blanche rescinded the ORDER establishing the slush fund, not the underlying “settlement.” The settlement says any changes must be agreed to by ALL parties, not just Todd. This “rescission” isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on.

There’s nothing you can write, signed or unsigned, that can stop a lawless, lying president from pardoning himself, his friends & family, or dropping/“settling” cases against them. I guess it’s nice to demand it anyway, so there’s something people remember later as a broken promise. But that’s all.

It continues to fuck me up that we stay thinking about 9/11 but want to memory hole Covid so bad we're destroying the entire concept of public health in the US.

In the United States, there have been 103,436,829[3] confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 1,238,563[3] confirmed deaths, the most of any country, and the 17th highest per capita worldwide.[43] The COVID-19 pandemic ranks as the deadliest disaster in the country's history.[44] It was the third-leading cause of death in the U.S. in 2020, behind heart disease and cancer.[45] From 2019 to 2020, U.S. life expectancy dropped by three years for Hispanic and Latino Americans, 2.9 years for African Americans, and 1.2 years for White Americans.[46] In 2021, U.S. deaths due to COVID-19 rose,[47] and life expectancy fell.[48]

AOC introduced a bill that would put the brakes on new data centers until Congress can study the environmental, economic and social impact of AI. This should have happened from the very onset of these death traps. The ones that are already operating should be forced to go through the same scrutiny.

Still can’t over the fact that the president of the United States just told an entire state to pound sand after getting cyberattacked by a foreign adversary because they didn’t vote for him and it was treated like a Tuesday lol

I worked for New York’s largest medical center at the start of the pandemic. There were morgue trucks on the streets. They set up emergency medical tents in Central Park. Healthcare worker colleagues died. It is horrific that RFK Jr is on national TV lying that ICUs were empty.

I get so frustrated with pundits who declare “Donald Trump is so smart about …” anything. Trump is not smart. He has no grand strategy, no special insight. He’s just an entitled bully who hasn’t changed his behavior in seventy years. …

14 years ago, I wrote an iPad game where you could design fighting robots and program them by soldering chips onto circuit boards. It got very few downloads, and vanished from the App Store after a couple of years. But I had fun making it.
