I recommend reading Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan saga using in-universe chronology (NOT publication order). BUT -- big caveat -- I would start with Shards of Honor, not Falling Free. That's one to go back to later, IMO a minor work and Shards begins the family/Cordelia/Aral/Miles tale for real

Lucky 10,000! There are many arguments about the best order to read them in: chronologically as published, or chronologically in-universe. I recommend in-universe, starting with "Shards of Honor". It will read like a romance, but really it's a political thriller.

This actually made me redownload @walkaboutminigolf.bsky.social and play for the first time in 5 years. (I was super disappointed by the Labyrinth course.) it was worth it, wjat a wacky crossover! and reminded me how fun the HomeStar Runner characters were in 3D in @skunkapegames.com ‘s SBCG4AP.

As of last week I am working with @callstack.com as a consulting Principal Engineer. I’m helping scale up their US operations as they expand their reach beyond the React miracles we are well-known for. It’s fun exploring and refining how my XP/Lean values apply to orgs moving to AI-native flows.

Hi everyone, today me and 22 others at Double Fine were hit by layoffs today. All the people who lost their jobs today care so much about the games they make and the people they work with. If anyone is looking for a tools SE with 7 years of experience and who brings baked goods on Mondays lmk.

Really good post that dovetails with a lot of what I said in my Portland Retro Gaming Expo panel last year -- - you should be having fun with your hobby - buy the things you like, keep what sparks joy - don't let "bargain hunting" mean skipping things you like and buying stuff you don't want

~Why~ you buy old games is infinitely more important than ~which ones~: kimimithegameeatingshemonster.com/2024/09/07/t...

for years, Bubble Bobble ran in MAME at full speed, looked great, and generally speaking appeared to play just fine but people highly familiar with both the game and the hardware noticed something was off: the monster behavior, item randomization and timings weren’t exactly consistent with the PCB

Oh my gosh! Chuck Russell pulled off miracles in Nighmtare on Elm Street 3, The Blob, etc (“ok, I’ll make that pig BARK”) and then translated that know-how into fantastic output in the APAC market. A real loss, and I’d love to hear Rachel Talalay and other collaborators discuss his unique pixie dust

RIP Chuck Russell. If you like your action well-paced and your effects practical, you owe it to yourself to revisit his vision of The Blob. deadline.com/2026/07/chuc...

For my own future reference and yours: NOBODY will cover stolen ebikes unless you get dedicated ebike insurance. Homeowners and renters insurance and AMEX Purchase Protection all consider them motorized vehicles and exclude them from coverage. Learn from my mistakes: GET DEDICATED EBIKE INSURANCE

My brand new ebike got stolen by somebody breaking into my garage and I’m beside myself. I’m not sure my insurance will cover it and I can’t afford to replace it and I’m just so sad

Like, I can count on one hand the number of AAA blockbuster-y games I've finished since WGG wrapped. I'm just burned out on 'em. But I've been having the BEST time with the most random, unique, weird and quirky titles and I kid you not, I haven't enjoyed video games this much in a long time.

A solicitor just stopped by as part of some kind of voting outreach that I didn't completely understand... he sort of mumbled his way through a prepared script that HE didn't seem to completely understand, and he even read the "[pause]" instruction out loud 😭

My MCGA+ core for the Graphics Gremlin HDMI may as well have the kitchen sink because in addition to the MCGA modes, it has enough of the VGA for modes 12h, “X” and “Y” as well as an isolated MDA on the hardwired 2 bits per channel HDMI. Releasing soon.
