My entire 30+ mile round trip last week cost about 30 cents. Even if I amortize the entire cost of the bike into my yearly trips (which is an absurdly fast amortization) ... it's still 1/5 the cost of driving. And that would be "I get a nice e-bike every year"

Okay, I did the math and if I used 80% of my dual-battery (2 x 500 Wh) Urban Arrow and charged it at the higher of the two-tiered electric rate I get in Seattle ($0.1392/kWh), assuming the charger is worst-case efficiency of 75% (per Google), it's... (...drumroll...) $0.1485 to charge it up again.

If you want to follow this analogy to where it's actually going, if you do not pick a car, one gets picked *for you* by *someone else*, which then not only replaces whatever conveyance you took to the dealership, but that of your family and neighbors as well.

I roughly agree with this, and find the other people quote-tweeting kinda revealing (and wow are they straight). Lots of relationships that are ongoing kinda suck! I think a lot of y'all are caught in some local maxima that aren't very good.
