I spent four years of my life in college in Amherst, MA at Hampshire College in the Holyoke Range. 3/4 of the year I don't miss New England. BUT IN THE FALL I WANT TO SNORT NEW ENGLAND FALL INTO ALL MY ORIFICES. Fall is pretty everywhere, but no one does fall quite like New England.

They are recognizing National Merit Semifinalists at the Seattle school board meeting tonight, and taking pictures one at a time with the superintendent!! This is incredible, what a change. My kid had to camp outside the counselor's office for a week to get her form signed when she got it.

Friend is a teacher who lives and works on Vashon. They have a whole ton of teachers who can’t get to work to teach this morning because of the ferry situation and no subs. I imagine the same is true of the kids in West Seattle who go to Vashon schools.

What are we fixating on right now Beth, instead of schoolwork? The old Seagrams distillery where I grew up, that became the Open Gate Guinness Brewery. The Open Gate Brewery just announced it is closing. Which led me down memory lane, remembering the smell of the brewery as we drove by it as a kid.

Today's Corvid News: My crows have been a bit obstinate about coming down from the power lines to ask for their treats on the banister near my window lately. They do eventually. But today other crows watched them, and I reminded them that coming down to the window is how I ensure they are MY crows.
