Dawn of Microsoft Games: This is a cool interview from a Microsoft exec. Close Combat a series I got to work on after my time at Midway (Arcade Games) & right before I went to wok on the Genesis3D engine - which became WildTangent (that service you always uninstalled on your new PC😄) #RetroGames

We published an interview with Microsoft veteran Stuart Moulder about his work with the Close Combat series in the nineties. By @retrogamingpappa.bsky.social

In this remarkable image of white supremicists on a subway train in Washington I see cowards afraid to show their faces and a strong woman who shouldn't have to put up with this shit. (Photo: Cheney Orr - Reuters)

when folks say that manual procedural generation work is not the same as generative AI, this is what we mean. it's all just humans making artistic decisions, even if it is generated. it's more often than not a highly manual process as detail oriented as when i'm manually making environments.

i'm thinking about cases for high buildings next to doors through walls. the rooftop could be connected! it could extend the rooftop so the structure merges with the wall, or it could do a narrow earth connector...

My first game device as a kid was a Soundic TV Sports console, featuring Pong and a few variations upon that theme. It was connected to an old TV set via an analog coaxial RF cable. The exciting early years of digital light and magic. 💚

I don't know if anyone will see this, but if I see someone posting "Why aren't game critics doing this?" I will block them. As a game critic, I've spent too many years trying my best, and I'm tired of getting this bullshit flung in my face.

Here's a fun suggestion for @bsky.app: don't push away users with draconian and illogical rule enforcement. We only have two other options: fascist X or ghost town Mastodon. We'd like to be here as much as you'd like to continue existing, so let's do each other a favor here.

Not unfamiliar with being rejected for job applications, but today was the first time I've been rejected because I had prior experience. WTF. I was literally the perfect fit for the job, but I didn't even get considered because I wasn't a n00b. OK. Thanks for the fast reply at least.
