There is an image of restaurant critics as those ludicrous fops who simply go out, eat on someone else’s dime and then hold forth. And up to a point the image is true. But I’ve always cooked, and it’s lovely finally to bring some of those recipes, not directly inspired by restaurant dishes, out into the light. It’s published Sep 3 and is available to order now. The link in the post gives lots of options including the indies. (For those wondering because some have asked, Amazon will eventually bring in a discount and that will be the price paid at publication).Braised spaghetti with meatballs. Because yes, it turns out you can braise spaghetti and it’s delicious, even if the very thought of it outrages the entirety of Italy. I’ll be posting a video about it in a couple of weeks.Behold, a lovely burnished caramelised onion and Parmesan tart. I do love a cooking project which results in an object you can admire. And then eat.An action shot of my take on salmon teriyaki; a dish which you can genuinely get on the table in under 30 minutes. Nothing wrong with a long cooking project. I like taking my time. I like the process. But sometimes you just want to get something on the table quickly.

The Electoral Commission appears to be straightforwardly wrong about its role and responsibilities in law as the regulator when it says publicly "Information about any potential attempt to evade the controls on donations is for the police to consider". It is the core job of the Electoral Commission

In light of these new allegations about illegal funding, it is my opinion that Nigel Farage should step down as MP for Clacton. He should then stand again in the by-election and let the people of Clacton decide if he’s guilty or not of breaking electoral law. 😉

A mall thing, but Farage boasted to the US “donor” that he worked with Drexel Burnham Lambert. This was a US bank that collapsed in 1990 after becoming embroiled in criminal activity. One wonders why Farage is so proud of his connections here.

I can't remember a clearer smoking gun than that Channel 4 News footage. Nigel Farage and his senior aides all filmed discussing apparent plans to break the law by funnelling foreign money into British politics, plans which at least partly went ahead. A criminal investigation surely must follow
