Happy to share this new paper in JGR-B! We showed how mapping wetlands and using probabilistic maps improved soil carbon mapping. It's a great step towards better representation of wetland soil carbon hotspots within the landscape.

I'm looking for a post-doc to work on the interaction between past hydrological changes and vegetation in a disturbed peatland, using paleoecological and modelling approaches. In my postdoc, I've been trying to learn about deep learning models for wetland mapping after my PhD coming from using random forest and calculating metrics. It's been difficult to get an intuitive grasp of what a #deeplearning model like U-Net is actually doing with the input data

Had the great opportunity to visit a wetland restoration project conducted by Ducks Unlimited. The project has worked on converting an old “muck” farm back to a wetland by removing tile drains, diverting hydrology, and planting hydrophytic vegetation. Super excited to see the progress so far!
