The Trump version will focus on "positive" climate effects and be used to protect fossil fuel companies from lawsuits. www.politico.com/news/2026/07...

So another pipeline funded with taxpayer money. This is a terrible decision by Carney to cater to the province that is responsible for almost 40% of Canada's GHG emissions. Carney's total disregard for climate science is incredibly depressing. And being a scientist these days is also depressing.

We have more than enough capacity (labour, factories, technology) to address the climate crisis, but as long as capital controls investment and production we are prevented from doing it. We are trapped by the capitalist law of value, living in a miserable shadow of the world we could have.

What is the future of summers in England? Our choices matter. A high-emissions future will commit our children and grandchildren to live in a world where the summers of 1976 & 2025 are cold. A global net-zero emissions future means that we can stabilise the climate & those summers will be normal.
