You either support liberal policies or you're a never-happy-degrowth-anticapitalist says Max. Also lol: "In climate terms, getting a Conservative premier of Alberta to sign off on a triple-digit carbon price is like getting a Quebec premier to sign their province onto the Constitution."

No, Mark Carney isn't just like Stephen Harper on climate and the environment, as some have argued lately. But he's not like Justin Trudeau either. That's a good thing, as far as climate policy is concerned. Today's announcement proves it. #cdnpoli www.nationalobserver.com/2026/05/15/o...

Reading and listening to conversations about social media's potential harm to young people and wondering at what point people will follow that line of thought to more seriously ask questions about its potential harm for adults.

It is far beyond bizarre that a person who is a very open and explicit racial supremacist—not just in his 'views' but in his highly engaged worldwide political activism—retains for so many the aura of a smart leader deserving of vast public subsidies and consumer devotion.

Elon Musk’s near-daily online posts about race are turning off some fans

Elon Musk posted almost daily about race on X in recent months, a Washington Post analysis found, at times sharing views experts said echoed white supremacy.

the natsec folks can maybe sketch out the logistics of how this happens after the fact, political scientists can offer insight about what it might mean in the future, but all of this is like stumbling into an angry werewolf hanging from the ceiling in your living room, none of it should be possible

Danielle Smith tried to sell her federal-Alberta energy deal to the UCP convention crowd: tepid applause. She told them that this proved Canada can work well for Alberta’s interests: loud boos. This ain’t a base that wants Smith to work with a Liberal PM on a better industrial carbon tax.

Canada budget update: A $2.7bn cut to international assistance over 5 years, or about 10-12% of the budget. Particularly focusing on global health, which is worrying because it's a core Canadian priority Not sure we need a resurgence of polio on top of everything, but what do I know

What I'm looking for in the Canadian federal budget: Development - Canada's budget for international stuff is complex. There's the International Assistance Envelope, OECD-measured ODA, plus stuff that falls under Canada's own Act. Plus provincial spending. They all overlap
