Thanks to Spokane voters for 2 decades of better buses. This campaign won in face of the largest anti-transit campaign in a primary in state history.

Despite an opposition campaign that raised more than $288,000 from a few wealthy donors, voters renewed a sales tax to keep STA's buses and paratransit running for working people, students, seniors, and people with disabilities

Spokane Transit now has stable ongoing funding for the next 20 years, unlocking: 🚏 added frequency and amenities, 🚌 another new BRT line, 🎫 new fare programs, and 🛞 investments in operators.

Really amazing how resistant some transit boards are to adding rider reps. You will get direct input from the most important stakeholders (lord forgive me for using that term) who know best what works for riders on important decisions. But you don’t want that? Suss AF

Just always so impressed by @spokanereimagined.org 's work. Sounds like their #WeekWithoutDriving bus stop bench build has prompted STA to not just do a shelter or nothing at bus stops but to add benches more often. Among other things.

The state legislature is set to require drivers who get out of traffic camera citations by swearing under oath that they weren't driving their vehicle at the time to: Present the police report stating that the car was stolen, proof of vehicle sale, or testify who actually was driving the vehicle.
Spokane Transit quietly served over 15,200 passenger boardings on Sunday, March 1, the first time ever surpassing 15k passengers for STA on a non-Bloomsday Sunday. Overall, Sunday ridership is running 33% higher than pre-COVID levels, representing the highest growth rate among service days.

I never imagined growing up in Idaho that one day I could bike to work! In Spokane, I can, and even in the last year I’ve watched new infrastructure on my route get put in to make it safer :)
